My Muslim Husband

Assalam Alaykum,

there are lots of negative views about muslims husbands.specially the Islam haters shows muslim husbands are really bad,and treat women in bad way.they shows lots of stories.

so,I’m also sharing a True story of a revert sister,to show how are Muslim husbands, and truly its guidance for brothers also how they shuld be with there partner.

May Allah make this post useful for readers,
Ameen…
King
slave of Allah!

It’s been 12 years since I married my Muslim husband and the road has truly been long and winding, but happy. At the time we got married I was Catholic and had no intention of converting to Islam.

My new husband was very understanding and only asked that I at least try to read an English translation of the Quran from time to time. I agreed. We soon moved to Kuwait as the U.S. economy was so weak at that time and it was impossible to earn a good living.

The minute I stepped off the plane I was thrust into a whole new world that was full of Islam, Muslims, cultural traditions and a whole new way of thinking. To say that I was shaken to my very core, in blind terror, is an understatement. All I wanted to do was to jump right back on that plane and fly away from this strange new World.

Yet through it all, my Muslim husband was by my side every step of the way. When I found that his mother’s cooking was too spicy, he made sure that other food choices were available, including American gourmet items like McDonald’s and Pizza Hut.

When I was homesick for my family in the US, he stayed up with me all night consoling me and offering to take me “home”. Through every happy moment, every illness and on the days when I was so sad I could barely summon a smile, my Muslim husband has been right there holding my hand.

My husband turned into my teacher as he taught me all about Islam, fasting and the Islamic prayer.

He is my best friend, confidant, and the father of my children. He equally shares in changing dirty diapers, spill patrol and nipping temper tantrums in the bud. Nothing fazes him, not even kids throwing up on his brand new shirt or his having to wash the dishes when I am too tired to move.

It’s unfortunate that Muslim husbands, especially, get such a bad rap in the Western media. Quite often Muslim husbands are portrayed as control freaks who force their wives to wear “Islamic garb”.

The reality is that both Muslim husbands and wives often choose to follow an Islamic code of dress because it is ordained in the Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad. It is not an issue of force or a war of wills.

God Almighty says in the Quran what means:

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: That will make for greater purity for them: And God is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty. That they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof.”(Quran 24:30)

For me, personally, I came to Kuwait wearing a t-shirt and blue jeans. I wore what I choose and neither my Muslim husband nor his Muslim family said anything to me.

However, my husband did continue to ask me to read the Quran. His gentle, and sometimes nagging, reminders paid off. I finally started reading the Quran and my hunger for more and more Islamic knowledge grew.

I searched and scoured until I found the truth I had always been looking for within the pages of the Quran. I made the decision to become a Muslim and I went shopping for my first hijab all by myself.

My husband turned into my teacher as he taught me all about Islam, fasting and the Islamic prayer. When I made mistakes or faltered, he did not scold me but increased his own efforts in teaching me everything properly.

His patience was remarkable as my own grew thin. I wanted to know a lot about Islam and it was just not something that happened overnight. But it did happen.

Islam has brought a sense of calm to my very being and a serene atmosphere to my home as well as my marriage. Since I became a Muslim I have noticed that I am less stressed or worried about the future.

I have a lot more patience and do not get as flustered as I used to with the little nuances of daily living. Through the Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad I have learned what this life really is all about and strive every day to engage in good deeds that will open the door to the next World to come.

Hi Simran kasab here from India… Mine too is almost same story… I was born in a rich family of Hindu-Brahmins but I fell in love with a muslim and married him… after marriage my parents had put a kidnap case on him even if I was 19yr old. But after 23days in central jail in bangalore he was released and he took me to a village in Gulbarga… all my muslim neighbours were so kind and they started teaching me about Islam and for my goodness it was the holy month of Ramzan and I did fasting and offered prayer to Allah.. We were very happy but after some days we had to leave that place because I was pregnant and nobody was there to look after my health..
Then we went to my mom-in-law’s place. There I could not do Namaz because my mom-in-law was deliverying babies in house itself and even I had to go to job… Later after I left praying I faced many difficulties like my hubby started drinking alcohol, no one took care of me, even though I was pregnant I was doing all the task(lifting weights)…. But I did not know what’s happening in my life and i had not even imagined such things… because I was the lovely daughter of my parents and i was getting everything I needed but here I did not even get good clothes to wear because it was a poor family but I got lots of love from my mom-in-law, sis-in-laws and bro-in-law and my sweety
Later I gave birth to my daughter Taslim Ara in july 2012 on 29. After that my things is gradually changing…. I think I lost my peace because I did not pray…..
After all these I decided to live in Bangalore city with my husband and even he agreed. First I searched for a job through a daily newspaper and now Iam in a post of Receptionist. My heart is telling me to know and learn more about Islam and so I have started learning it throuht lessons in newmuslims.com
Till now my husband has loved, is loving me a lot and he is supporting me in all my decisions…. I Love My Muslim Husband
All brothers and sisters please help me to learn Islam religion and bless my child

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu. This is a very inspiring story, and thank you for sharing this with us sister.

I too reverted to Islam, and had researched it thoroughly before taking my shahada before getting married to a wonderful Muslim, ALHUMDULLILLAH.

It is definitely unfortunate that one of the sisters had a terrible experience with both her husbands – Allah swt will punish them in accordance to what they have done wrong – but it is true that Allah subhaana wa ta’ala will test us every way he wishes to see if our hearts are in the correct place and follows Allah’s will; I can say that I am a testament to this, and I thank Allah swt for all the hardship that I have been put through to find my way in Islam, again ALHUMDULLILLAH.

What is not correct is that due to what both men have done to the sister that she categorize all Muslim men to be like this. EstaghfirAllah. I have hopes that she was not lying about her situation, because I have met many Christians who has it in their minds that all Muslim men beat or abuse their wives, which is completely false. I’m sure it would offend those of the Christian religion if I had blatantly stated that “because of my Christian friend who has done me completely wrong, and has conned me out of large sums of money, that they are all the same and I will never trust any Christian ever again,” estaghfirAllah.

I ask that any of us who has hatred or grudges against any other person or group of people regardless of their race, sex, religion, etc., that we ask forgiveness for this hatred in our hearts, and ask for their forgiveness in doing what ever wrong they have done, ameen.

InshaAllah, the Almighty and Most Merciful forgive us…Ameen.

so it is supposed to be but not!!!! i have had 2 muslims husbands, both were unfaithful in less than a month after we married, one turned out to be gay and the other, turned out to be a con man. after that, i became a christian because i have swore to God that i will never marry another muslim man nor will any of my children, all those who are happy in their marriages to muslim men, count yourself lucky, fall on your knees and thank God.

Its really sad to know what hapnd with you ,but i didn;t got 1 point you are judging millions of muslim men by the acts of 2 Men…

and you have chosen God on the basis of Marriage ? this is really sad… i know many sisters, revert sisters,Who left there family , husband for the sake of Allah. i’m born muslim, but after reading there hardship my own problems are nothing.

those 2 men have indeed done wrong with you,May Allah punish them, ameen, but after that you too did wrong.

I hope you have guarantee that Christian mens are not like that.

I dont know In What Situation you married to those both guys, but why you didn;t did enquiry before marraige ?
marraige is not small issue that we just meet up and went to marry.

Did you did Istekhara before marraige ?

Didn;t Allah said in Holy Quran that you will be tested by everything you have ?

I just make dua, that Ya Guide this sister again on the path you love most,
Ameen
