Former Dutch Islamophobe Van Doorn converts to Islam Story :: Interview

arnoud van doorn geert wilders party member convert to islam

In Holland, a major islamophobic political and social activist, former member of parliament from a right-wing party, Arnoud van Doorn accepted Islam.

The former islamophobe announced his decision to accept Islam on his Twitter profile. He says it is a new beginning of his life and published the declaration of Shahada (the words on monotheism to become a Muslim) in Arabic.

At first, other users took the news as a joke. After all, an active supporter of a notorious Dutch hater of Islam, Wilders, has repeatedly approved islamophobic statements and public actions, and personally participated in them.

But van Doorn, who now serves as a regional adviser at the City Hall in The Hague, personally confirmed his decision to practice Islam in an official letter to the city Mayor.

Most recently, the politician filed a formal application to the mayor of the city to allow him to perform prayers obligatory for Muslims during his working hours.

The information on conversion of van Doorn to Islam was confirmed on the official website of the mosque Al-Yaqeen in The Hague.

“We wish brother Arnoud a good new life as a Muslim and a lot of strength with the acquisition of knowledge”, the website says.

After accepting Islam, van Doorn gave an exclusive interview to Qatari English-language TV channel Al Jazeera, the text of which he published on his Twitter page:

Al Jazeera: What would you say to the people who are sceptic towards your conversion into the Islam?

Van Doorn: I can understand that people are sceptic, especially since it is unexpected for many of them. In my own close circle people have known that I have been actively researching the Koran, Hadith, Sunnah and other writings for almost a year now. In addition, I have had numerous conversations with Muslims about the religion. This is a very big decision, which I have not taken lightly.

Al Jazeera: How did you get in touch with the Islam?

Van Doorn: I have heard many negative stories about the Islam, but I am not a person who follows opinions of others without doing my own research and forming my own opinion. Therefore, I have actually started to deepen my knowledge of the Islam out of curiosity. My colleague Aboe Khoulani from the City Council in The Hague has brought me further into contact with the as-Soennah mosque, which has guided me even further. There, I have been received very warmly and very positively.

Al Jazeera: In hindsight, do you have regrets of joining the PVV (Freedom Party)?

Van Doorn: I have learned that every experience in life has a purpose. However, with the knowledge I have today, I would have undoubtedly made a different choice.

Al Jazeera: Which reactions have you received regarding your conversion?

Van Doorn: According to some people I am a traitor, but according to most others I have actually made a very good decision. The reactions are generally positive though. And I also receive quite some support via twitter. It feels good that people who do not know me personally have understanding of my situation and support me in my choice.

Al Jazeera: Is there anything else you would like to state?

Van Doorn: I have made mistakes in life as many others. From these mistakes I have learned a lot. And by my conversion into the Islam I have the feeling that I finally found my path. I realize that this is a new start and that I still have much to learn as well. The expectation is that I will continue to face much resistance, also from certain government institutions. I have all faith in Allah to support me and to guide me through these moments.

“The expectation is that I will continue to face much resistance, also from certain government institutions,” he said.

“I have all faith in Allah to support me and to guide me through these moments.”

Geert Wilders(Fitna Movie Maker) Party Member, Arnoud van Doorn, Accepts Islam

Far-right Dutch Politician Reverts to Islam

AMSTERDAM – A leading member in far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders’ party has reverted to Islam after an extensive study about the Islamic religion and Muslims.

“I can understand people are skeptic, especially that it is unexpected for many of them,” Arnoud Van Doorn told Al-Jazeera English satellite channel.

“This is a very big decision, which I have not taken lightly.”

The news about Doorn’s reversion first came to the surface last month when he tweeted “new beginning”.

He later posted a tweet in Arab pronouncing the Shahadah (proclamation of faith).

The politician later announced that he reverted to Islam, giving no more information about the reasons behind the decision.

“In my own close circle people have known that I have been actively researching the Qur’an, Hadith, Sunnah and other writings for almost a year now,” he said.

“In addition, I have had numerous conversations with Muslims about the religion.”

Driven by his party’s anti-Islam discourse, Doorn decided to dig in for the truth about the religion himself.

“I have heard so many negative stories about Islam, but I am not a person who follows opinions of others without doing my own research,” he said.

“Therefore, I have actually started to deepen my knowledge of the Islam out of curiosity.

“My colleague Aboe Khoulani from the City Council in The Hague has brought me further into contact with the as-Soennah mosque, which has guided me even further.”

A member of the Dutch parliament and The Hague city council, Doorn’s name has long been associated with anti-Islam rhetoric by Wilders’ PVV party.

Wilders himself is known for his rants against Islam, Muslims and the Noble Qur’an.

New Beginning

Doorn’s decision to embrace Islam has won mixed reactions in the Netherlands.

According to some people I am a traitor, but according to most others I have actually made a very good decision,” he told Aljazeera.

“The reactions are generally positive and I also received quite some support via twitter.

“It feels good that people who do not know me personally have understanding of my situation and support me in my choice.”

For the Dutch politician, finding Islam was finally guiding him to the true path in his life.

“I have made mistakes in life as many others. From these mistakes I have learned a lot,” Doorn said.

“And by my conversion to Islam I have the feeling that I finally found my path.

“I realize that this is a new start and that I still have much to learn as well.”

Departing from his earlier life as a PVV member, Doorn expects much resistance in his political life.

“The expectation is that I will continue to face much resistance, also from certain government institutions,” he said.

“I have all faith in Allah to support me and to guide me through these moments.”

From Wilders to Muhammad: Former Freedom Party vice-chairman “Van Doorn” converts to Islam

A former member of Geert Wilders’s anti-immigration Freedom Party has converted to Islam.

LiveLeak-dot-com-724fd4873db2-van_doorn

Arnoud van Doorn, who until December 2011 was vice-chairman of the PVV group on The Hague’s city council, announced his “new start” on Twitter.

He also posted a tweet in Arabic declaring that “there is no god but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet,” in accordance with one of the five pillars of Islam.

The 46-year-old has continued on the council as an independent candidate since splitting with Wilders’s party. He declined to comment on his reasons for his conversion, saying only that his religion was a “private matter”.

In January Van Doorn (pictured, right, with Dutch Iranian politician Ehsan Jami in 2010) was questioned by prosecutors about an article in the Hague edition of the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper based on confidential papers that he leaked to a journalist.

The leak was discovered during a wiretapped phone call while Van Doorn was being investigated over allegations that he sold soft drugs to children aged 14 and 15.

Van Doorn said the allegations were the result of a misunderstanding and that he had been involved in an undercover operation to unmask drug dealers in central The Hague. He admitted he had not properly considered the risks involved.

The articles concerned plans to sell the World Forum, an international conference centre in The Hague, which was discussed during a closed session of the council.

Georgette Lepaulle, 92, Is Oldest Muslim Revert In The World !!

Georgette Lepaulle 92 Is Oldest Muslim Revert In The World

The 92-year-old Georgette Lepaulle from Berchem (Belgium) is the oldest muslim convert in the world. Last year she became Muslim. “Especially the friendliness of the people attracts me. And Allah has been a few times my prayers. “

With the introduction Georgette holds her hands deep in the sleeves of her djellaba. She refuses the outstretched hand. “You should not take this personally, but since I am Muslim, I get no strangers anymore. I will only touch my husband. Not that I have wedding plans. What should a widow of 92 still a virgin? ” Then splashes Georgettes loud laugh at. The roaring laughter of “Muhammad Maddah” is still on.

Georgette and Mohammed are already more than 40 years neighbors. Then two years ago Georgettes her family in a nursing home wanted to quit, Muhammad obstructive. His neighbor had come to live with his family. That could not be a problem because Muhammad’s wife, son and two daughters knew Georgette all throughout their lives. Muhammad was actually just lost his own mother. Georgette would recover that loss.

“By coming here to attend, I pulled in Islam,” says Georgette. “I saw these people pray together. I saw how caring they interact. How they talk to each other. How important family is to them. Totally different from my cold family. Since my conversion, I have not heard from my 72 year old daughter. “

Of God apart

Last summer went by Georgette Mohammed was a family visit to Morocco. That was just in Ramadan, the fasting of the Muslims. “I knew what fasting is, because I’m Catholic. I was baptized, went to the nuns at school, church was twice married and have my two husbands an ecclesiastical burial. During my working life I was a maid in a Jewish family. But religion has never touched me. On the contrary. I lived quite apart from God. On my fifth I smoked my first cigarette and my last on my 78th. On my seventh drank my first glass of alcohol and for my conversion I drank half a bottle of wine every day. That was a habit from my first marriage with an Italian fighter pilot in the war was killed. “

During her participation in Ramadan last year by Georgette a deep religious feeling awakened. She was shocked by themselves. They’re so late in her life another completely new experience would get. For the first time she had contact with something higher. With Allah. She felt his openness. His love. She asked him the healing of a friend and the rescue of a little boy who was on the wrong track. Her two bedes are interrogated. That was the sign for Georgette to apply to convert to Islam.

Woman Kissing

Women have Georgette was completely washed. That was her ingress ritual. “Then they continued to kiss me. So glad they were because I was a sister of them. I’ve never been kissed so much – you probably know by women – as since entering Islam. I’ve got something must surrender. Beverage, tobacco, pork and – it is not easy for a woman – even makeup. Previously I put the makeup always in thick layers. “

Back in Belgium, they went to the big mosque in Brussels for a certificate for Noor Islam – that is the new name of Georgette. The mosque in Brussels reported the conversion of the then 91-year-old Belgian woman immediately to the mosque in Mecca. Wherein they plunged into the archives but found no older converts. Immediately, the king of Saudi Arabia them informed that an envoy to Berchem sent with a gold watch for Georgette. Plus an invitation to next year at his expense to come to Mecca. The Saudi television will follow her. But the VRT was for them. Famous Everyone turned in a report on Georgette.

It’s a dirty question, but they must be asked: Georgette had paid for something to convert to Muslim? She looks very strict and yet again that loud laugh: “Money has nothing to do with it. I took this decision entirely voluntarily. Everyone is free to do so. Others should not follow my example. “

Inspired by Muhammad –  Jonathan Brown [Revert Story]

Assalam Alaykum

Well,Today I’m going to share this Revert Story for a special reason.

I regularly talk with xians  on my facebook page and groups ,they always bring these kind of statements to abuse Muhammad s.a.w.

Holy Quran says that Muhammad s.a.w is the perfect example for us.but according Islam haters Muhammad s.a.w was sinner, murderer, kidnap, loot.rape blah blah blah claims,so he is not Perfect example.

They will bring claims like Muhammad s.aw fight 65 military campaigns and Jesus didn;t fight any military campaigns.Muhammad did war,but Jesus spread Love!

Well, but this completely wrong, you can’t match 2 different person having responsiblities.

Muhammad s.a.w was Religious Teacher and nation leader tooo… but Jesus A.s was not Leader ,He was religious teacher.

Now,The Biggest difference which current bible shows as Jesus teachings cant be successful.

that is “Love Your Enemies” you can’t spend your whole life just with Love.

I mean if any one is hurting your family then you have to fight and protect them.so, “Love Your Enemies” can’t be applicable on humans. again saying “YOU CAN;T LIVE YOUR whole  LIFE JUST IN LOVE” .

AND THIS  THOUGHT  WAS THE REASON OF aCCEPTANCE OF ISLAM BY BROTHER JONATHAN..read story below…i hope you will enjoy reading.

if you think my view is wrong, then kindly correct me…im man,i may fall in error.

JazakAllah khair

slave of Allah!

What Inspired him to Accept Islam ???

Jonathan Brown

Inspired By Muhammad Revert Stories

Before Convertion

Can we start with the story of your conversion?

I was raised Anglican, the Church of England in America, but my family wasn’t very religious. My family wasn’t very religious, so I wasn’t really brought up as a Christian. I believed in God; I have always believed in God. When I was in college, during my first year at Georgetown, I took a class in Islam and the teacher was a Muslim woman. I was very interested in what she was telling me. I realized that the things she was telling me were things that I had believed my whole life; the nature of God, the idea of reason, the idea that reason and religion are supposed to be compatible, religion should enhance your life, not make it difficult and not make you suffer. At the end of the semester I really felt like a Muslim; that summer, the summer of 1997, I spent reading a lot of books on Islam and traveling throughout Europe and Morocco; when I came back to school at the ning of my sophomore year of college I became Muslim.

Did you have any prior contact with any Muslims before?

No, I don’t think I had really met a Muslim before I took a class on Islam.

 Now as Muslim

We all know your books on Prophet Muhammad and I have just learned that you are working on a new book.

Yes, there is a series of books Oxford University Press called “Very Short Introductions”; they have them on everything; “Very Short Introduction to the European Union”, etc. I am doing the one on the Prophet. I have finished the book. They will publish it as a book on its own and then as part of the series. Right now it is delayed, because they sent it to the Pakistan office of the Press, to see if it is offensive to Muslims. I wanted to tell them “I am a Muslim and everything in it is Muslims. There is nothing in it that is offensive to Muslims.” I talk about some of the Western historians and how they talk about the prophet, but this is just a discussion. All the things on the life of the prophet are the Seerah and the hadith.

Why are they still worried?

Because books that are perceived to be offensive to the Prophet usually cause problems. But for a publisher these kinds of problems mean that people buy the book more. I don’t know what they are concerned about.

What is the thing that influenced you the most about Prophet Muhammad?

Probably, that he was the best person in every situation. To me this is very inspirational. A lot of times the religious role models we have in America are always a certain way – for example Jesus is always kind and forgiving. But sometimes you can’t be forgiving. You shouldn’t be; sometimes you have to soft and sweet and sometimes you have to be direct and harsh; sometimes you have to be patient and at other times you have to act quickly.

There isn’t always one rule that you can apply to your life that will tell you how to act. You have to be able to read the situation and act in the best way. The Prophet knew how to do that; that is inspirational. I think that is the most important thing.

Do you think that Muslims today can apply his teachings to their daily lives?

Definitely. I think that Muslims need to think about how he was both idealistic and effective. He had principles which he lived by, but he also knew how to market himself and the way to speak to a certain person to convince them; he knew how to speak to a person to make them his ally. He wasn’t always just severe and strict and austere. He knew how to tailor his message to each person; not to change the message, but to shape it to the person, that is, not changing the content, but the form. This is very useful. I think when Muslims feel they are religious they tend to make announcements about what is haram. To really follow the example of the Prophet is to always think about what is right. That is really useful.

To have that balance…

Yes, to be a whole person, to be a fully-dimensioned person

So why do you think that in Europe and the US Prophet Muhammad has become such a target for some people?

First of all it is ignorance. People don’t know anything about Islam or the Prophet. They hear that Muslims are terrorists and that Islam is a violent religion, so the Prophet must be the source or symbol of this. That is the biggest reason. A lot of it is political. The reason why there is conflict between Muslims and Western countries is because Western countries are invading or occupying Muslims countries. That causes political problems. Westerners depict Muslims as violent because the Muslims react against the invasions. There is a long history of conflict between Western countries and Muslim countries, but the kind of portrayal of the Prophet today, which such hatred and rancor, can only be explained as a product of political conflict.

You mention about scholars who write about Prophet Muhammad; if we assume that generations have grown up reading such comments about Prophet Muhammad is this situation then something normal, natural?

Yes, I think it is. If you ask a person on the street about Islam, ask them to say a word that comes to mind, is it terrorism, Prophet Muhammad, extremism, swords, violence. Generations and generations of repeating this myth…

What should Muslims do?

Do their best to educate people. People don’t know anything. If you tell the average person things about the Prophet’s life, how he lived in Mecca for 13 years without fighting, without conflict with the Meccans who oppressed him, they would be surprised. I think in daily life, whether it is writing a book or writing on the internet you need to try to increase people’s awareness of the Prophet.

You mentioned the difficulties faced in Europe, which are increasing every day, and the attitude of the media. What is the situation in the United States?

The rights of freedom of religion in the United States are very strong. You are constitutionally protected to practice your religion. It is very easy for Muslims to leave class or work to pray. You are constitutionally allowed to do so. If you want to wear your headscarf and your employer fires you, you can sue them for that. So it is easier because your rights are protected. However, because of the fears of terrorism many times the government will start investigations about Muslims for no real reason, deciding that a Muslim is a threat because they are practicing, or that they are a threat because they don’t agree with foreign policy. Which is, by the way, the right of every American to disagree with foreign policy; many Americans disagree with foreign policy. But when a Muslim does: “this person is a potential radical”. Of course after 9/11 the Patriot Act was passed, which allowed the government much freer rein in prosecuting people on the basis of national security. Wire tapping without permission or a warrant the justice department, this was all allowed. There is a lot of torture of Muslim prisoners in Guantanamo Bay.

And recently it’s been revealed that Information about Muslim students is being sent to the CIA…

These kinds of things happen a lot. This is a debate in the United States. There are many Americans who object to these policies, who aren’t Muslims, because they are violations of constitutional rights. The government should not be able to tap your phone without getting permission a judge. You should not be able to take student records. After the Patriot Act, if you go to a library to check out books, the government can come to the library and see what you are reading. The US can send Muslims to other countries to be tortured. Is water boarding torture…many Americans who are not Muslim object to this because they see it as being morally wrong, a violation of constitutional rights. This is a big debate. Muslims are against this, but so too are many Americans.

Do you personally see any problems as a scholar, a Muslim scholar?

Not really, I guess I am not a good example. My name is Jonathon Brown and I don’t look like I’m a Muslim country. I never face persecution due to my name or appearance. I have never faced a problem about being a Muslim scholar. People are generally interested in hearing what Muslims have to say.

What are you observations about Turkey as a Muslim country?

I like it very much. I understand that it is very difficult for Muslims here. But I love it because you can walk down the street and pray whenever you want to. The food is lovely. I wish I knew Turkish, I want to learn more. Religiously it is a very complicated country. I have a lot of respect for Turkish people. But it is a very complicated country.

What about the lack of unity in the Muslims world?

Yes, there is a great lack of unity. One of the problems is that people are interested in their own benefit and fail to form a unified group. They think that if they disagree with someone on an issue they can’t work with them. “I won’t be with them, I don’t want to be in the same room with them…I don’t want to cooperate with them…” But this is silly because you will never agree with someone a hundred per cent. You should always be looking for a chance to cooperate and to build partnership, not veering away.

Do you think that there should be one or two political powers who could lead these countries? For example, should countries get united under the framework of the Islamic Conference?

That would make sense. I think politically Muslims have shared issues that they care about, as well as life-style issues they care about, and I think they should be able to lobby as one group. For example if one country, like France, says women can’t wear headscarves at university, the Muslim countries should boycott or make a statement. As an American I can’t agree with this, I don’t think any American would agree that someone should not be allowed to practice their religion freely; if you want to wear religious clothing this is your right. I think that is one thing they can do and another thing is to have more of an impact politically in terms of foreign policy; for example if a country wants to invade  a Muslim country no Muslim country will support that; they won’t let them use their air space or ground space.

Yes, instead of making commercial or military agreements with them…

By the way it would be better for America. Most Americans now would tell you that invading Iraq was a bad idea and if Muslims countries had made it difficult for America to invade Iraq by refusing cooperation or approval then it would have saved us a lot of problems, billions of dollars and many lives. When someone gives you nasihat and tells you not to do something, it is good for you too.

South Africa’s Wayne Parnell converts to Islam

Johannesburg: South African fast bowler Wayne Parnell has converted to Islam after a period of personal study and reflection and will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Friday as a Muslim.Parnell confirmed in a statement on Thursday that he converted to Islamic faith in January this year and is considering a name change to Waleed, which means ‘Newborn Son’.

“While I have not yet decided on an Islamic name I have considered the name Waleed which means Newborn Son, but for now my name remains Wayne Dillon Parnell. I will continue to respect the team’s endorsement of alcoholic beverages. I am playing cricket in Sussex and this is my immediate focus,” said Port Elizabeth-born Parnell.

“As I am approaching my first period of fasting, I ask that this special time is treated with respect. I am a young man, a professional cricketer by trade, and while I can appreciate and am grateful for the public interest in my personal life, my faith choice is a matter which I would like to keep private,” said the promising Warriors left-arm seam bowler.

Proteas team manager Mohamed Moosajee, himself a Muslim, said Parnell’s Muslim teammates Hashim Amla and Imran Tahir had not influenced his decision to convert from Christianity.

“Wayne already decided a few months ago to follow Islam,” Moosajee said of the cricketer, who excelled during the ICC World Cup on the subcontinent.

“The decision to convert was his own decision, but I know nothing of the name change,” added Moosajee.

Fellow players, preferring to remain anonymous, said they believed Parnell was very serious about his choice of religion and that he had not touched a drop of alcohol, forbidden to Muslims, since the recent Indian Premier League series.

Supporting Moosajee’s denial of influence by Amla, the players said he had never attempted to convert them to his religion, although they had all been very impressed by the discipline and strict adherence that Amla showed to his religion, by refusing to participate in celebrations with them that involved liquor, staying steadfast in his daily prayers even while on tour, and refusing to wear the kit sponsored by South African beer brand Castle Lager.

In his first two years after making his debut for the Proteas in 2009, Parnell developed a hard-living reputation.

In October 2009, he was kicked out of the provincial side Warriors following an incident in a night club in the city of Port Elizabeth in the early hours of the morning.

He came to limelight when he captained the South African Under-19 team in the U-19 World Cup in 2008. He was the youngest player to get a central contract in 2009 at the age of 20 years.
