Once…Prophet Mohammad (Sal-lal-laaho- Alaih-e-W- sallam), said to Ali
(razi-Allaho- anho) :

Ali ! Do 5 things Before Sleeping , Daily.

1. Give 4000 Dinar Alms/sacrifice (sadqaa) daily before sleeping.

2. Read whole Qur’aan one time ,daily before sleeping

3. Pay price of Jannah, daily before sleeping.

4. Make a truce/peace between two fighting men, daily before sleeping.

5. Perform a Hajj,daily before sleeping.

Then Ali (razi-Allaho- anho) requested Ya’RasoolAllah
(Sal-lal-laaho- Alaih-e-W- sallam).. .!It is very hard to do…how can I’ll
do all this ?

Prophet Mohammad (Sal-lal-laaho- Alaih-e-W’ sallam) replied :

1. Read “Sura-e-Fatiha” 4 times…..Its equal to sacrifice 4000 dinars.

2. Read “Sura-e-Ikhlaas” 3 times….Its equal to read Qur’aan one time.

3. Read “Durood-e-Ibrahimi” 10 times…..Its equal to pay price of
Jannah.

4. Read “Astagfaar” (Astagfaar =Astag firul’lahaa rabbi min kul’ly
zanmbin w’atubu elaihe)10 times…..Its equal to make
truce/peace between 2 fighting men.

5. Read “4rth Kalima” 4 times…..Its equal to perform Hajj.

Why do we read Quran, even if we can’t  understand a single Arabic word????

little-boy-reads-quran2

An old  American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern    Kentucky  with his young  grandson. Each morning  Grandpa  was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading  his Quran.  His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate  him in every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, ‘Grandpa! I  try to read the Quran just like you but I don’t understand it, and what I  do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading  the  Qur’an  do?’

The Grandfather  quietly turned from putting coal in the  stove and replied, ‘Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a  basket of water.’

The boy did as he was told, but all the water  leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and  said, ‘You’ll have to move a little faster next time,’ and sent him back to  the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but  again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told  his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and  he went to get a bucket instead.

The old man said, ‘I don’t want a  bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You’re just not trying hard  enough,’ and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.

At  this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his  grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak  out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into  river and ran hard, but when   he reached his grandfather the basket was  again empty. Out of breath, he said, ‘See Grandpa, it’s useless!’

‘So you think it is useless?’ The old man said, ‘Look at the  basket.’

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time  realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a  dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

‘Son,  that’s what happens when you read the Qur’an. You might not understand or  remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out.  That is the work of  Allah  in our lives.’

Prophet  Muhammad (pbuh & his family) says:

*’The one who guides to good will be  rewarded equally’*

Jewels of Quran

al-quran

Isa bin Muhammad (Alaihir Rahmah) says that I once saw Abu Bakr bin Mujahid (Alaihir Rahmah) after his death in a dream reading the Holy Quran. I asked, “You have died, how are you reciting,” upon which he said :

“After every Salah and finishing of the Quran, I would pray “O Allah, give me the Taufiq to recite the Quran in my grave” and that is why I am praying.” (Faizan-e-Sunnat)

Ahadith

The Holy Prophet said:

1) The best of you is he who learnt the Holy Quran and taught it to others. (Bukhari)

2) Undoubtedly, the heart gets rusted like metal gets rusted when water goes over it. The People asked, “How can they [hearts] be cleaned.” The Prophet replied, “To remember death in abundance and to recite the Holy Quran.” (Mishkat)

3) That chest which does not have any Quran in it is like an abandoned house. (Tirmizi, Darmi)

4) Whoever read the Quran and memorized it and belived its’ Halal to be Halal and its Haram to be Haram [i.e., accepted it commandments of Halal and Haraam], Allah will accept the intercession for such 10 people on from him whom Hell had already become Wajib. (Tirmizi, Ibn-e-Majah)

5) Whoever is an expert in reciting the Holy Quran is with the Kiraman Katebeen and whoever reads the Quran with pauses and it is difficult for him, that is, his tounge does not move easily and he recites with difficutly for him there are two rewards. (Bahar-e-Shariat)

6) The one who has memorized Quran will be told to read and climb and recite with Tarteel (clear and distinct recitation) like you used to read with Tarteel in the Dunya; your place will be where you read your last Ayat. (Bahar-e-Shariat)

7) Allah says, “Whoever was kept busy with the [recitation] of Quran from my Zikr and asking me, I will give him better than those who I give to those who ask” and the excellence of the Word of Allah over all the other words is like the excellence of Allah over all his creation.

8) Learn the Quran and read it because whoever learned the Quran and read it and did Qayam with it is like a bag filled with Musk whose fragrance is spread everywhere and whoever learned the Quran and slept that is he did not do Qiyamul Layl is like a bag which is filled with Musk and its mouth has been closed. (Tirmizi, Ibn-e-Majah, Nisaee)

9) Read the Quran when you heart feels affection and attachment and when your heart becomes bored stand up that is stop reciting the Quran. (Saheeh Bukhari and Muslim)

10) Decorate the Quran with your (good) voices. (Mishkat)

11) O People of the Quran, do not make the Quran a pillow, that is do not be lazy and be careless, and read the Quran in the day and night like it is the Haq of Recitation, and spread it, that is, read with good voices or do not take compensation for it, and whatever is in it, reflect upon itso that you may attain success, and do not hurry in its reward because the reward for it is great (which will be given in the Akhirah). (Bahiqi)

Rewards for certain Surahs and Ayahs

The Holy Prohpet said:

1) Surah Fatiha is a cure from every illness. (Darmi, Bahiqi)

2) Do not make your home a graveyard, the Shaitan runs from the home in which Surah Baqrah is recited. (Sahih Muslim)

3) Whoever memorized the first ten ayahs of Surah Kahf will be saved the Dajjal. (Sahih Muslim)

4) Whoever recites Surah Kahf on the day of Jummah, there will be a Nur brightened for him between two Jummahs.

5) Everything has a heart and the heart of the Quran is Surah Yaseen, whoever read Yaseen, Allah will write the reward of reading the Quran ten times from him. (Tirmizi and Darmi)

6) Whoever reads Surah Yaseen for the pleasure of Allah, his past sins will be forgiven so read this near your deceased. (Bahiqi)

7) (Reading) Qul hu WAllahu Ahad (Surah Ikhlas) is equal to [reading] one third of the Quran.

8) Whoever read Ayatul Kursi after every Fard Salah, he will be under the protection and security of Allah. (Dailmi on the Authority of Sayeduna Ali)

9) (On the Day of Judgement) a caller will say O Recitor of Surah Inaam, come to Jannat for loving Surah Inaam and its recitation.

10) Surah Tabarak (Surah Mulk) saves one from Hell.

11) Whatever task is not begun with Bismillahi Rahamni Raheen remains incomplete and unfinished.

Ettiquteets and Rules of Tilawat:

1) To memorize one Ayah of the Quran is Fard-e-Aeen on every Mukallaf Muslim; to memorize the entire Holy Quran is Fard-e-Kafyah; to memorize Surah Fatiha and a small Surah or something similar like three small Ayahs or one long Ayah is Wajib-e-Aeen. (Durre Mukhtar)

2) To read the Holy Quran while looking at it is better then reading without looking at it because in this case one touches the Holy Quran, sees the Holy Quran, and reads the Holy Quran and all this is Ibadat. (Bahar-e-Shariat)

3) To read the Holy Quran in the restroom and such places of impurity is not allowed (Na-Jaiz)

4) It is Haraam that everybody read the Holy Quran in a gathering loudly at once, however, it is necessary to read loudly enough so that one can hear what he/she is reading, that is, if there is no other distraction like noise. (Bhare-e-Shariat) Also, many children read together at once in a Madrsa loudly for learning purposes and this is okay.

5) It is better to read the Quran loudly that is if somebody praying, sleeping, or somebody ill will not be distracted. (Gunyah)

6) If somebody is reciting the Quran incorrectly then it is Wajib to tell him/her unless if one fears jealousy and hate. (Gunyah)

7) To memorize the Holy Quran and then to forget it is a sin.

8) It is from the ettiqutes of respecting the Holy Quran that one does not put their back towards the Quran or spread their legs towards the Quran or sit in a high place when the Quran is beneath. (Bahare Shariat)

9) During recitation reflect on what you are reading. For example, when reading about punishment, one should repent; when reading about paradise, one should rejoice and pray for Jannah.

10) The way to do Sajdah of Tilwat is as follows: If one hears or reads the Ayat of Sajdah then he should stand with the intention of performing the Sajdah of Tilawat and saying Allahu Akbar should go into Sajdah and should recite the Tasbeeh of Sajdah atleast three times. Then, saying Allahu Akbar, one should stand up. To say Allahu Akbar both times is Sunnah. Similarly, to stand before and after the Sajdah is Mustahab. (Durre Mukhtar)

Lastly,

learn how to read the Quran in the company of a Qualified Alim [and mature sisters must go to a Qualified Sister] who can teach them how to read as this is necessary. At times, while reciting many brothers and sisters unknowingly make mistakes in recitation which change the meaning which breaks their Salah. Likewise, send your children to Madrsas where they may learn how to recite the Quran with correct pronunciation and Qirat. If there is not a Madrsa in your town, then establish one. Knowledge of Islam leads one to Love Allah and helps to build a good moral character within the Muslim community. By learning the Quran, a Muslim saves his Salah, his Iman, and his Akhirah. Learning the Quran is not limited to just learning how to recite the Holy Book, rather, it is a life long process of learning how to recite it and understand what the Quran says.

The noble Ulama have worked hard and written volumes of Tafseer which consists of Ahadith, Stories, and important points. After learning the Quran, we must practice it and spread the word into our family and community.

if you embrace Islam, there is no reason

Miserable are those souls that are ignorant of Islam or that know Islam but have not been guided to it. Today, Muslims need a slogan or advertisement to be broadcast worldwide, for Islam is a great message that must be conveyed to the masses. The words of this slogan need to be clear, concise, and inviting because the happiness of humanity as a whole lies in this true Religion.

And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him…. (Qur’an 3: 85)

A famous caller to Islam settled in Munich, Germany some years ago. Upon reaching the entrance of this city, he noticed a large placard. Upon it was written, “You don’t know Yokohama Tires.” He later put up a sign beside it and it was just as large. He wrote on it, “You don’t know Islam. If you wish to know about it, call us at this number.” There was an inundation of calls from native Germans. In one year alone, thousands of people accepted Islam at this man’s hands. He also established a mosque, an Islamic center, and a school.

Most human beings are confused and are in dire need of this great religion. They need Islam so that a peaceful and serene life can take the place of the chaotic one that they are presently leading.

Wherewith Allah guides all those who seek His Good Pleasure to ways of peace and He brings them out of darkness by His Will unto light and guides them to a Straight Way [Islamic Monotheism]. (Qur’an 5: 16)

A worshipper who was found living in a remote area and who never had prior contact with other men, said:

“I never thought that anyone in the world worshipped other than Allah.”

But few of my slaves are grateful.  (Qur ‘an 34: 13)

And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah’s path. (Qur’an 6: 116)

And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly. (Qur’an 12: 103)

One scholar informed me that during the time when Sudan was a colony under the British Empire, a desert nomad came to the capital city, Khartoum. When he saw a British policeman walking in the center of the city, he asked a passerby, “Who is that?” He was told that the man was a foreign policeman and that he was a disbeliever. The nomad asked, “A disbeliever in what?” “A disbeliever in Allah,” was the reply. Living in the desert for so long, this man’s inborn nature – unspoiled by evil ideas – had remained intact, and so, when he heard something so absurd, it made him astonished and sick. He said, “And does anyone disbelieve in Allah!” He then grabbed hold of his stomach and vomited from sheer disgust at what he heard.

What is the matter with them that they believe not?  (Qur’an 84: 20)

Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth [i.e. what has been promised to you], just as it is the truth that you can speak.  (Qur ‘an 51: 23)

One should think well of his Lord and should seek His favor and mercy. In an authentic hadith, the Prophet (bpuh) said that our Lord laughs. After hearing this, a desert Bedouin said, “We are not bereft of a Lord who laughs well.”

And He it is who sends down the rain after they have despaired… (Qur ‘an 42: 28)

Surely, Allah’s Mercy is [ever] near unto the good-doers. (Qur’an 7: 56)

Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!        (Qur’an 2: 214)

By reading the biographies of successful people, one finds that they have certain things in common, whether it is in their background, their qualities, or the circumstances that surrounded their success. Here are some of the conclusions I arrived at after having read some of their biographies.

1. A person’s value is based on the good he does. This is a saying of `Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and it means that a person’s knowledge, character_ worship, and generosity are the yardsticks by which we measure his worth.

And verily, a believing slave is better than a [free] Mushrik [idolater, etc.], even though he pleases you. (Qur’an 2: 221)

2. One’s status for this life and for the Hereafter depends on his determination, striving, and sacrifice.

And if they had intended to march out, certainly, they would have made some preparation for it…            (Qur’an 9: 46)

And strive hard in Allah’s Cause as you ought to strive [with sincerity and with all your efforts that His Name should be superior]. (Qur’an 22: 78)

3. Every person by the will of Allah       is the maker of his own history. He writes his life’s story with his good and bad deeds.

We record that which they send before [them], and their traces [their footsteps and walking on the earth with their legs to the mosques for the five compulsory congregational prayers, Jihad (holy fighting in Allah’s Cause) and all other good and evil they did, and that which they leave behind]….  (Qur’an 36: 12)

4. Life is short and passes quickly. Do not make it shorter by sinning, by worrying, or by quarrelling.

The Day they see it, [it will be] as if they had not tarried [in this world] except an afternoon or a morning. (Qur’an 79: 46)

I received this article in my email, very good article…so sharing with you!

Dear all,
Following is an English translation of this amazing article written by Malik Riaz Hussain, Chief Executive – Bahria Town, printed in daily “Jinnah” on November 02, 2005. I found it so accurate and soul-shaking that I decided to translate and share it with you guys.

”WE TURN HUMANS INTO GODS”

I was about to enter the airport to catch a flight to Lahore when I stopped to look at a crowd of around 125-150 people waiting with flower wreaths in their hands and reciting Durood Sharif. Moments later, a huge car appeared near the departure lounge and out came a buzurg with a long white beard. Someone among the crowed screamed, “Pir Sahib aa gaye!” The crowd ran towards the Pir Sahib whose face beamed when he looked at the crowd. People were literally going crazy in the blessed presence of Pir Sahib. Some were holding Pir Sahib’s shirt against their eyes, some were kissing his hands, some were at his feet, someone picked up his shoes and was holding them against his eyes, someone took his bag and someone else yanked his Tasbeeh. The whole departure lounge was bursting with the roars of “Allah-hu, Allah-hu” and “Na’ra-e-Takbeer”. A group of foreigners, who, I guess belonged to an earthquake rescue team were staring at the scene with deep astonishment and soon their cameras were flashing, capturing the weird drama.

I went inside the airport. Inside, Pir Sahib was still being followed by half a dozen of his mureeds, who, I discovered, were traveling with him. Soon the waiting area had turned into Pir Sahib’s personal sitting area, with the Pir Sahih sitting on a sofa and his mureeds gathered at his feet. I bumped into a friend of mine and started talking to him, momentarily breaking free of the strange aura. After a while when I boarded the plane and soon observed that the situation inside the plane had become quite interesting. The mureeds had dedicated a full set of triple seats to Pir Sahib, which is normally allotted to three passengers, while they themselves had hacked the seats of other passengers. The actual owners of these seats were arguing with the mureeds for their seats. After a while, the mureeds reluctantly got up and sat on the floor. As it turned out, the mureeds were reluctant to sit beside Pir Sahib and were saying, “We are willing to die here but cannot commit blasphemy by sitting beside our Pir Sahib!” The situation was about to get out of control when a couple of sensible passengers offered their own seats to the mureeds in exchange for the seats on either side of Pir Sahib and soon the problem was finally resolved.I was continuously observing Pir Sahib during the whole mockery of a situation: his head peacefully resting against the seat and his eyes closed with his fingers running feverishly on his Tasbeeh. The flight finally became airborne and we were off to Lahore. However, every now and then, Pir Sahib would suddenly shout “Allah-hu” and his mureeds would follow at the top of their voices, “Allah hu, Allah hu”, which seemed to cause turbulence in the airplane.

As I got off the plane at Lahore terminal, thanking Allah that the flight was over, the scene outside the arrival lounge proved me wrong in an instant. The lounge was packed with not less than 300 mureeds, with longing in their eyes. I couldn’t have missed the drop scene and decided to wait in a corner. The crowd of mureeds was now standing on the tiptoes, trying to peep inside the arrival lounge to catch a glimpse of the revered face.
Pir Sahib soon appeared, walking at a steady and confident pace and as I expected, the terminal erupted into trembling roars of “Allah-hu, Allah-hu”. The moment Pir Sahib put his foot outside the gates, the whole crowd dropped at his feet. Seeing so many humans prostrate at the feet of another human was too much for me and I ran outside, touching my ears and repeating “Astaghfaar”.
Inside my car my head was spinning with the horror of the scene I had just witnessed. “What was this?” I had no answer to the question. Are we the same Ummah who claims to be the worshippers of one God (Allah)? We do believe in one God but do not believe in His commandments.
We turn human beings, His mere creation, into gods and then seek our salvation under their feet. We seek bliss by touching their shoes and forget that these are the people who are oblivious about their future; their next step and their next moment, who don’t even know if this breathe of air, which they are dragging inside their lungs with so much pride, would ever be able to come out of their arrogant bodies, or if the sip of water they have just taken would ever flush through their kidneys, or if the loaf of bread they are holding in their hand would ever reach their awaiting mouth! What can these meager humans give them?  started thinking about progressive nations and realized that all the nations who have shown tremendous advancement and succeeded in achieving their goals followed only one god…
This god could be justice, science or system and on other occasions, it took the form of merit and equality. Whether he lived in a church or a mosque, he was ONE! I also realized that almost all the nations who worshipped many gods or bowed at the feet of other humans got off-track and lagged behind. And soon the stark reality hit me: the reason for the pathetic failure of Muslims everywhere in the world was staring me in the face. When a nation forgets Allah and seeks salvation from many human-gods, then it deserves to be ridiculed and mocked all over the world!
Bernard Shaw once said, “A human is very strange; he cannot even create a leaf or a fly and yet he creates hundreds and thousands of gods”. How true and priceless is this saying! When nations are punished by the Almighty, they busy themselves in god-manufacturing. Every new fear throws them at the mercy of a new god and each of these new gods hands them a new fear as a gift!

We, Muslims, are also at the mercy of these innumerable, insignificant and miserable human-gods! No doubt that the Almighty, who can create human irids in 16 million colors, can save us from the wrath of America

BUT

He listens to only those who listen to Him!

In The Name of Allah,The Most Merciful,The Most Kind

British journalist Yvonne Ridley, who converted to Islam after being captured by the Taliban, tells Asma Hanif that oppression of Muslim women has to do with traditions rather than with Islam and explains why she became a Muslim.

It was Yvonne’s camera that betrayed her to the Taliban in September 2001, landing her in an Afghan cell for ten days and starting a long process in her life.

In front of a Taliban soldier, it slipped from her shoulder when, disguised as an Afghan woman with a head-to-toe burka, she entered the country without her passport on the brink of the US-led invasion. The Sunday Express reporter wanted to talk to ordinary Afghans and write a human interest feature.

But the Taliban suspected Yvonne of being a spy for the Americans at a time when Afghans flew by thousands to secure their lives outside their country’s borders. Yvonne, then 42, replied to them: “If I was to be an American spy, then God help the Americans.” Mullah Omar eventually ordered her release on “humanitarian grounds”. But the camera was never to be returned to her.

“I’m sorry, the Taliban confiscated my camera when I was arrested, so I have no picture from that period,” reads her email to me when I asked her if she has a photo of her cell to illustrate this feature.

Yvonne describes the prison as “very basic, with no running water”, although the staff treated her with respect, which she, the feisty British journalist, brutally rejected. “I spat at my captors, I threw things at them,” she now confesses. “I don’t know who was happier when I crossed the border to freedom, they or me – they just wanted to get rid of me.”

With the fall of the Taliban, the cellmates were exchanged. When Yvonne returned to Afghanistan after her release and visited the cell in the women’s section of a Kabul prison, she was surprised.

“It was packed with young girls aged 12-16 whose only crime was that they had run away from home because they didn’t want to be second and third wives for men twice their ages,” says Yvonne, who is a campaigning feminist. “The whole thing of selling a girl, which was forbidden and stamped out by the Taliban, is now widely practiced.”

Comparing the women’s situation under both, the former and the current Afghan regimes, she observes: “There are no career women coming out in Afghanistan except a few individuals who saw their lives improving,” adding, “some women told me they missed the security they had under the Taliban.”

The first Afghan Minister of women’s affairs to work after the fall of the Taliban, Dr Sima Samar, did not even have her own office, Yvonne realized when she met her in March 2002. “In the end she was hounded out of office,” she says.

“Being a woman in Afghanistan is a tough life,” Yvonne concludes. “But it has been for centuries – it has to do with customs and traditions.” Even if women are often subjugated in Muslim societies, Islam stands far from these traditions, claims the Muslim feminist.

It was Yvonne’s capture by the Taliban that sparked the process switching her from a wine and cigarette admirer into a devout Muslim who prays five times a day.

Rejecting people’s initial rumors which suggested that she suffers from the Stockholm syndrome, Yvonne says she made the step by pure conviction.

“To suffer from that disease, you have to bond with your captors over a long period of time,” she explains. “I was there for only 10 days. I did not bond with the Taliban. The only people I bonded with in this very short time were six amazing Christian fundamentalist women whom I shared a cell with. So, if I were suffering from any syndrome, it would have been with my cellmates, and I should be in Texas now, running a tambourine and going halleluiah.”

Yvonne’s passage to Islam started with the promise she made to the Taliban that, once freed, she would read the Quran (the book Muslims believe to be God’s word). “The fulfillment of this promise turned very soon to a spiritual journey for me,” she says, “because, after having finished reading this book, I started an academic exercise and read the supporting literature.”

When initially reading the Quran, Yvonne recalls, she intended to find out “how it teaches men to beat their wives”. But she emerged entranced. “The Quran makes it crystal clear that women are equal to men in spirituality, worth and education,” she realized.

Gradually, she began adopting Islamic practices and cutting out un-Islamic customs like alcohol and cigarettes. “I had a battle with cigarettes which I finally won – at last,” she jokes.

Yvonne also began covering her head, finding it “liberating not to be judged by the size of her legs”.

But then it was her own society that she felt oppressed by. “I’ve always been outspoken,” she says, referring, for instance, to her critical views against the way detainees in the war on terror are held captive without charge, and often tortured. “I have been a trade unionist all my live; I’ve been passionate against the war; I’ve spoken on anti-war platforms, on Muslim and non-Muslim events. But as soon as I put on a hijab (the Arabic word for the Muslim veil), I was called an extremist for my views.”

Yvonne finds that interesting. “You can’t win,” she fiercely says. “You’re criticized one minute for being silent, subjugated, oppressed and not saying anything. And when you do say something, they say: ‘Oh, she’s an extremist.'”

Although, before her conversion, she recalls looking at veiled women as ‘silent, oppressed creatures’, she now wears her veil as a means to show her Muslim identity, and to be respected as a Muslim who does not want to be offered a glass of wine.

Now that she has ‘seen the veil from both sides’, as she describes herself, Yvonne knows what she defends – Islam purely and simply.

The grades used – largely by Western media – to measure the levels of Islam such as ‘moderate Muslim’ and ‘Islamist’, are nonsense in her eyes. “What is a moderate and what is an extremist? I really don’t know,” she says. “I am a simple Muslim. I follow no scholars or sects. I merely follow the Prophet Mohammad and the Sunnah (the Arabic word for Prophet Muhammad’s tradition). Does that make me an extremist?

“I once said being a Muslim is a bit like being pregnant. You are or you are not. Whoever heard of anyone being moderately or extremely pregnant?”

Yvonne strongly opposes distortions and manipulations about Islam. She once declined an offer by a Hollywood producer who, after having read her book, In the hands of the Taliban, expressed an interest in making a film, but had misinterpreted the Taliban as “dirty, filthy, stinking Arabs”.

“First of all, the Taliban are not dirty filthy stinking Arabs as you call them,” Yvonne replied her. “They’re largely from Afghanistan and Pakistan. Furthermore, they were all very handsome young men.”

When her agent then insisted on Yvonne to agree for producing the story, she said, “I never had money in my life, so I don’t know what I’m missing, but there is no way I am going to allow somebody with such a narrow vision to do that story, because it would be totally distorted.”

It seems that, if not confiscated, Yvonne’s camera would have pictured the Afghans from a different perspective than many others’. But her pen did.
