10 Tips to Fight Depression !

Assalam O Alaykum,

I would like to share this article, which is very usefull for everyone.

Well, from last few days,i’m xtrmly depressed,so,I was looking for some solution.and i found this article.

depression_by_thirsty5.. Feeling down in the dumps, depressed, having the blues: these are just some of the terms used to describe a feeling of hopelessness and despair that can hit even the most optimistic of us at some point in our lives. While clinical depression requires proper professional treatment, the occasional feeling of sadness due to factors ranging from economic difficulty to harassment and discrimination can be helped through some simple spiritual practices. Here are a couple that can help:

1. Look at those below you

The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whenever you see someone better than you in wealth, face or figure, you should look at someone who is inferior to you in these respects” (Bukhari, Muslim). If you are reading this article online, consider this: you are one of the lucky set of human beings on the planet who can afford a computer and internet connection or at least have access to one. The United Nations Development Program’s 2007 Human Development Report notes that there are still around 1 billion people living worldwide at the margins of survival on less than $1 a day, with 2.6 billion living on less than $2 a day. Also consider that in the Quran (14:7), God says that if you are thankful to Him for what you have, He blesses you with more.

2. Serve your fellow human beings

The best way to thank God is to serve humanity, especially those who have less than you. Serving others is uplifting and rewarding. It helps us gain a better perspective on life’s challenges, making us realize how very often, are problems seem so small compared to the awesome difficulties others face. That’s why when the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and the Muslims were a small, poor and persecuted community, they used to give to the poor even more. They understood that when you are generous when you have less, you achieve the perspective of a winner. You are focused on the bigger picture.

3. Read Surah Ad Duha

According to one report, after the Prophet had begun receiving revelation from God, at one point a long period of time passed with no such communication from Allah. As a result, the Makkans ridiculed the Prophet and he became severely depressed. That’s when this chapter was revealed (Quran 93: 1-11). The chapter is a beautiful reminder to us to see life in the greater scheme of things, to be grateful for what we have and to never give up striving for what is right. This chapter of the Quran can be considered a direct recipe from God for depression.

4. Turn to God in all situations

Remember that nothing can harm you without the consent of God. While you must take care of yourself, rely on God and know that He is always with you and only He can give you strength in difficult times. Also remember that He will help you can come out of a trying situation as a better person if you deal with it positively.

5. Remember God’s Names

God has many beautiful Names which describe His attributes and powers. These are reminders of His Love, Mercy, Forgiveness, Justice, Strength and much, more. Supplicating to God using these Names reminds us that God has these attributes more than any other being and that we can and must rely on Him during good and bad times.

6. Say ‘Hasbun Allahu wa Ni’ mal Wakeel;

This has been translated as “God suffices me and He is the best guardian.” It is an excellent way of reminding us that whatever worries we have or problems we face, God has the answer and cure to all of them and is the only One who can really do what is best for us.

7. Make sure when you leave home,

you read this Dua ‘In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.’ Bismillahe tawakkaltu alAllahe la haula wa la quwwata illa biAllah.

8. Take your spiritual break from the world,

five times a day Taking a break away from school, work or other life activities to spend a few minutes to remember God helps you reconnect with the Creator of the Universe, fortify your soul and strengthen your resolve to live a better life that is in tune with your faith and principles.

9. End your day on a good note

Shakespeare once wrote a play entitled “All’s well that ends well.” That’s good advice for dealing with depression too. End a day that may have been riddled with challenges and frustrations by making Wudu before going to bed, thinking of God and the Prophet and counting every blessings you have

10. Stop Shaytan in his tracks

Shaytan is the source of many of our negative emotions. It’s his job to make us feel pessimistic and to despair of any good in life. When you feel these feelings coming on, stop him dead in his tracks: say Aoutho billahi minash Shaytan ir Rajeem (I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed satan).

I pray,Almighty will remove these pains from my heart, and make this post usefull for muslims brothers and sisters…

mashaallah I like it very much

I’ve been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours.
It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if
all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the
web will be much more useful than ever before.

Brother sheikh, you need to see a local muslim scholar to have rukiya done on you. Incase your possessed by a jinn or even black magic. You will know from your first session if that’s the case. Otherwise go see your GP who will prescribe you antidepressants to take.. please don’t leave your salaat and Qur’an otherwise you wont recover without these two thing’s in your life. Hope you feel better soon In sha Allah.

I need help iam super depress like I don’t know myself when I wake up i
Feel like I wot reconize my life iam gettin worse something is scary me everything is making
Me depress I need help I really want to commit sucide becaise I feel like my depression is so severe I need help I don’t want to die

Sister, are you muslim? If so, are you praying the five times daily prayer.

Please dont think these thoughts. U must seek help from Allah by asking for forgiviness and making duaa. Read the quran before u start ur day and read duaa before u sleep. It is always helpful to pray ur daily 5 prays and while doing so ask Allah to lead u in the right path. I don’t know u but I love u as much as allah loves u. Don’t let the shatain play with ur head and put thoughts of suicide in there. U have a family that I’m sure will be very divistated and will be hurt if u hurt urself. Go to a near by masjid and speak to someone to help u get threw this dark place becuz everything happens for a reason and Allah has great plans for u. I will pray for u and keep u in my prays. May allah help u threw this dark time and shead a light of noor upon ur face

mashaAllah this article is amazing! I just read it and it seems so guiding like a ray of light. ive been suffering from severe depression from months now and I feel like I’ve finally found the answer as therapy and just talking about it doesn’t work!
thanks may God bless u. jazakAllah

I just don’t seem to agree with the initial tip which I find not a strong approach someone who is heavily depressed in h/her life. I’m not taking away any credit from our great prophet teachings which can be used in many different circumstances. what your describing there its more likely targeted on shallow and greed mongers it’s not strictly meant for the depressed people. you will find people who appreciate everything God has provided them but they are unhappy with their wealth but depressed with things they already have that includes many aspect of their daily lives; work issues, relationship, family tension, loneliness, everything surround them constantly strike them with pain regardless how positive things are. they think people hate them secretly “care more about others what they gotta say”. I will say this will not help by saying look below down people who are inferior to you rather it will bring more pain.

Hi there, it is nice to meet/ speak to you
I wanted to reply to you because I went through, still am, going through this very same phase. I know it is going to be difficult for you to believe, especially when you are involved in the deep dark mentality that we are sometimes accustomed to, however, I genuinely must say, and I do not mean to come across as being over voluptuous in my description, but it is normal to feel the way you do. And as a form of advice to myself first. A lyrical journey through the Quran, and maintaining the salah has helped me out a lot. I am still considering whether or not to go counselling however I can honestly say that reading the quran trying to read into the sciences such diseases of the heart etc helps. your the first person im speaking to about this. just before getting on to this website I was just researching on the central nervous system and to develop it Insha Allah. we must remember our bodys were given to us by Allah. if we appreciate and try to nurture them the way he wants us to we will be successful. yes we fall and fail, but do remember we are human, not superhuman. My panic attacks have died down and etc. subhan Allah. believe me you are worth much more than you think. reply back if you would like any advice I am happy to help seriously I went through the rocks. The least we can do is help eatchother.

Good Efforts.. Agreed.

My trust has been broken a few times and now for some reason I always suspect my husband in whatever he does and with other women. I feel so depressed sometimes that I want to leave him or hurt myself. He is such a good husband and I hope Insha Allah after doing these steps I can rid myself of such emotions

How it become possible. kindly help

I have to say I feel the exact same.

i also feel low everytime and wanted help from Allah so that i can overcome from my self made shell..i want that Allah refresh my brain and me … and i can get over from my emotional mood…in past i was having troubled life .. also i was in depression…now my life is too good and i have everything ( thankful to Allah) …but i cannot enjoy my present because of past … feel scared fearful lonely every time …i don’t know what wrongs with me….just cant not feel happy.. always feel upset..if i meet people and am good in talking …but feel down sometime …cannot connect with real people….

Hey, have faith in allah, he only he can show u the way,x
Just try pray loads and do zikar constantly when u get a chance x
Inshaa allah u be fine
I feel ur pain, hence me on this site, but u can only hope for the best…x

I’m not particularly religious, but since I’ve been feeling low, I feel closer to God. I’ve found zikar extremely helpful.

Salaam Hina,
I feel the same way as you do. I am 39years old now and have been deppressed for most of my life but I know I have got a lot to be grateful for. You say you had a troubled past but now you have everything, Allah bought you out of your troubled past and gave you another chance, what a huge blessing. I know it’s hard, I feel like I have created a world of madness for myself and now I’m stuck in it. But, every second I’m alive is a chance and opportunity to repent and try to be closer to Allah. Allah has power over all things, ask him for help.
All the best
