“Do not please anyone by angering Allaah?”

What is the status of the hadeeth,

Do not please anyone by angering Allaah, do not thank anyone for the blessings of Allaah, and do not condemn anyone for that which Allaah did not give you. For the provision of Allaah does not come to you because of anyone’s efforts and it is not diverted from you because of anyone’s hatred. By His fairness and justice, Allaah has connected peace and joy to contentment and certain faith, and He has connected worry and distress to discontentment.

Praise be to Allaah.

This hadeeth was narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Kabeer, 10/215.

Al-Haythami said:

It was narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Kabeer, and its isnaad includes Khaalid ibn Yazeed al-‘Umari, who was accused of fabricating hadeeth.

Majmaa’ al-Zawaa’id, 4/71.

It was also narrated – via a different isnaad – by Abu Na’eem in al-Hilyah (5/106) and by al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Eemaan, 1/221.

Its isnaad includes ‘Atiyah al-‘Awfi, who is da’eef (weak), and the comments of the scholars concerning him have been quoted above (p. 78); and it includes Muhammad ibn Marwaan al-Saddi, who is matrook al-hadeeth (his hadeeth is not to be accepted).

Yahyaa ibn Ma’een said:

he is not thiqah (trustworthy), and on one occasion he said: he is nothing.

Ibraaheem said:

he is kadhdhaab (a liar).

Al-Sa’di said,

he is dhaahib (i.e., his hadeeth is not accepted).

Al-Nasaa’i, Abu Haatim al-Raazi and al-Azdi said: he is matrook al hadeeth (his hadeeth is not to be accepted).

Al-Bukhaari said:

his hadeeth should not be written down. And on one occasion he said: they did not say anything concerning him.

Ibn Hibbaan said:

his hadeeth is not to be written down, and it is haraam to use his hadeeth as evidence.

See Meezaan al-I’tidaal, 6/328; al-Du’afaa’ wa’l-Matrookeen, 3/98

It was also narrated by Hannaad al-Sirri in al-Zuhd, 1/304; and by al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Eemaan, 1/221, with an isnaad which is mawqoof and stops at ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him).

The hadeeth of Salmaan about the virtues of Ramadaan is da’eef (weak)

A khateeb of a masjid in my area mentioned in a khutbah a Hadeeth narrated by Salmaan, may Allah be pleased with him, that the prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, gave them a khutbah in the last day of Sha’abaan .. etc. some brothers objected to what the khateeb says in front of the worshippers saying that this Hadeeth is fabricated. He also said that the prophet said: “who feeds a fasting person, Allah will bless him a drink of my Cistern (Al-Hawd), he will never feel thirsty after it until he is in paradise” and also said: “who makes it easy on his salve, Allah will forgive him and frees him of the hellfire”. The brother objected and said: this is lying and the prophet did not say this. A person tells lies about what the prophet said should expect his place in the hell”. Is the Hadeeth mentioned correct or not.

Praise be to Allaah.

The hadeeth of Salmaan was narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah in his Saheeh. He said: Chapter on the virtues of the month of Ramadaan if the report is saheeh.

Then he said: ‘Ali ibn Hijr al-Sa’di told us, Yoosuf ibn Ziyaad told us, Humaam ibn Yahya told us, from ‘Ali ibn Zayd ibn Jad’aan, from Sa’eed ibn al-Musayyab, from Salmaan who said:

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) addressed us on the last day of Sha’baan and said:

“O people, there has come to you a great month, a blessed month, a month in which there is a night that is better than a thousand months. Allaah has made fasting it obligatory and spending its nights in prayer a voluntary act. Whoever draws close (to Allaah) during it by doing a good deed will be like one who did an obligatory deed in any other month, and the one who does an obligatory deed in it will be like one who did seventy obligatory deeds in any other month. It is the month of patience, and the reward of patience is Paradise. It is the month of helping others. It is a month in which the believer’s provision is increased. Whoever gives a fasting person food with which to break his fast will have his sins forgiven and he will be ransomed from the Fire, and he will have a reward like his without it detracting from his reward in the slightest.”

They said: Not all of us can find something to give to the fasting person with which to break his fast.

He said:

“Allaah will give this reward to the one who gives a fasting person a date or a drink of water or a sip of milk. It is a month the beginning of which is mercy, the middle of which is forgiveness and the end of which is ransom from the Fire. The one who reduces the burden for his slave will be forgiven by Allaah, and He will ransom him from the Fire. So do a lot of four good deeds during it, two with which you will please your Lord and two which you cannot do without. As for the two good deeds with which you will please your Lord, they are bearing witness that there is no god except Allaah, and seeking His forgiveness. As for those which you cannot do without, they are: asking Allaah for Paradise and seeking refuge with Him from Hell. Whoever feeds a fasting person until he is full, Allaah will give him to drink from my Cistern, a drink after which he will not thirst again until he enters Paradise.

Its isnaad includes ‘Ali ibn Zayd ibn Jad’aan, who is da’eef (weak) because of his bad memory. Its isnaad also includes Yoosuf ibn Ziyaad al-Basri, whose hadeeth is munkar. It also includes Humaam ibn Yahya ibn Dinaar al-‘Awadi, concerning whom Ibn Hajar said in al-Taqreeb: He is trustworthy but he may make mistakes.

Based on this, the hadeeth with this isnaad is not false, but it is weak. However, many of the virtues of Ramadaan are proven in the saheeh ahaadeeth.

The hadeeth “The sleep of the fasting person is worship” is weak

I heard a khateeb mention a hadeeth from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “The sleep of the fasting person is worship.” Is this hadeeth saheeh?.

Praise be to Allaah.

This hadeeth is not saheeh, and it is not proven from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Al-Bayhaqi narrated in Shu’ab al-Eeman (3/1437) from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Abi Awfa (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

The sleep of the fasting person is worship, his silence is tasbeeh, his du’aa’ is answered and his good deeds will be multiplied.

Its isnaad was classed as weak by al-Bayhaqi who said: Ma’roof ibn Hassaan (one of the men in the isnaad) is da’eef (weak) and Sulaymaan ibn ‘Amr al-Nakha’i is weaker than him.

Al-‘Iraqi said in Takhreej Ihya’ ‘Uloom al-Deen (1/310):

Sulaymaan al-Nakha’i is one of the liars.

It was classed as da’eef by al-Manaawi in Fayd al-Qadeer (9293) and it was mentioned by al-Albaani in Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth al-Da’eefah (4696) who said: It is da’eef.

What the Muslims should do in general – and this applies even more so to khateebs and daa’iyahs – is to verify reports before attributing a hadeeth to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

It is not permissible to attribute to him anything that he did not say. He (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Telling a lie about me is not like telling a lie about anyone else. Whoever tells a lie about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1391) and by Muslim in the introduction to his Saheeh (4).

And Allaah knows best.

In The name of Allah,The Most Merciful,The Most gracious

Good deeds appear in the form of a man in the grave How sound is this hadeeth!

When a person dies, whilst his relatives are busy with his funeral rites, a very handsome man stands at the head of the deceased and when the body is shrouded, that man comes in between the shroud and chest of the deceased, and after the burial, the people go back to their homes and the two angels Munkar and Nakeer come to the grave and they try to separate this handsome man from the deceased so that they will be able to question the deceased about his faith. But the good-looking man says: ‘He is my friend, he is my friend, and I will never leave him without intervening under any circumstances. If you are appointed to question him, then do as you are commanded, but as for me, I can never leave him until I admit him to Paradise.’ Then the handsome man turns to the deceased and says to him: ‘I am the Qur’aan that you used to recite in a loud voice sometimes and in a low voice sometimes. Do not worry. After the questioning of Munkar and Nakeer, there will be no sorrow after this day.’ When the questioning ends, the handsome man and the angels prepare a bed of silk filled with musk for the deceased in Paradise.”.

Praise be to Allaah.

Let See the Facts,

What is narrated in the saheeh Sunnah about one’s good deeds taking a physical form and appearing in the form of a handsome man in the grave, including the deed of reciting the Holy Qur’aan, is as follows:

1-  It was narrated from al-Bara’ ibn ‘Aazib (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

When the believing slave is about to depart this world and enter the Hereafter, there come down to him from heaven angels with white faces like the sun, and they sit around him as far as the eye can see. They bring with them shrouds from Paradise and perfumes from Paradise…

until he said, describing the state of the believer in the grave:

Then a voice calls out from heaven, ‘My slave has spoken the truth, so prepare for him a bed from Paradise and clothe him from Paradise, and open for him a gate to Paradise.’ Then there comes to him some of its fragrance, and his grave is made wide, as far as he can see. Then there comes to him a man with a handsome face and handsome clothes, and a good fragrance, who says, ‘Receive the glad tidings that will bring you joy this day.’ He says, ‘Who are you? Your face is a face which brings glad tidings.’ He says, ‘I am your righteous deeds.’ He says, ‘O Lord, hasten the Hour so that I may return to my family and my wealth.’”

Narrated by Ahmad (4/362); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Ahkaam al-Janaa’iz (156).

2-  It was narrated that Buraydah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:

I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say:

The Qur’aan will meet its companion on the Day of Resurrection when his grave is opened for him, in the form of a pale man. It will say to him, ‘Do you recognize me?’ He will say: ‘I do not recognize you.’ It will say: ‘I am your companion the Qur’aan, who kept you thirsty on hot days and kept you awake at night. Every merchant benefits from his business and today you will benefit from your good deeds.

He will be given dominion in his right hand and eternity in his left, and there will be placed on his head a crown of dignity, and his parents will be clothed with priceless garments the like of which have never been seen in this world.

They will say: Why have we been clothed with this?’ It will be said: ‘Because your son used to recite Qur’aan.’ Then it will be said to him: ‘Recite and ascend in the degrees of Paradise,’ and he will continue to ascend so long as he recites, either at a fast pace or a slow pace .

Narrated by Ahmad in al-Musnad (394) and Ibn Maajah in al-Sunan (3781); classed as hasan by al-Busayri in al-Zawaa’id and by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (2829).

Al-Suyooti said in his commentary on the hadeeth (2/1242):

“In the form of a pale man”.

Al-Suyooti said: This is the one whose colour has changed. It is as if he comes in this form so as to resemble his companion in this world, or to draw attention to the fact that just as his colour changed in this world because of staying up at night to read Qur’aan, the Qur’aan will appear in a similar form because of its striving on the Day of Resurrection until its companion attains the ultimate goal in the Hereafter.

End quote.

I have not found anything in the saheeh Sunnah to suggest that a man’s righteous deeds will appear in the form of a man in the grave except in these two hadeeths.

As for the hadeeth which you quoted, it is not narrated in any of the reliable books of Sunnah, and we have not found it with any isnaad, saheeh (sound) or da’eef (weak).

Rather it is something that appears in some chat rooms or on some sites with no proof. Perhaps some ignorant person wrote it himself then attributed it to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), to encourage the people to respect the Qur’aan and pay attention to it, but these people do not know that telling lies about the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is one of the worst of sins that doom a person to the Fire of Hell,

and the good intention does not remove the burden of sin for those who tell lies and fabricate ahaadeeth as if the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said them.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Telling lies about me is not like telling lies about anyone else. Whoever tells a lie about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1291) and Muslim (4).

And Allaah knows best.

SAYINGS (HADITH) OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam)

The one who disdains prayers (Salat) will receive Fifteen punishments from Allah..
Six punishments in this lifetime
Three while dying
Three in the grave &
Three on the Day of Judgment.

Copy of fakehadith

THE SIX PUNISHMENTS OF LIFE :
1. Allah takes away blessings from his age (makes his life misfortunate)
2. Allah does not accept his plea (Dua’s)
3. Allah erases the features of good people from his face.
4. He will be detested by all creatures on earth.
5. Allah does not reward him for his good deeds. (No thawab)
6. He will not be included in the Dua’s of good people.

THE THREE PUNISHMENTS WHILE DYING :
1. He dies humiliated.
2. He dies hungry.
3. He dies thirsty. Even if he drinks the water of all seas he will still be thirsty.

THE THREE PUNISHMENTS IN THE GRAVE :
1. Allah tightens his grave until his chest ribs come over each other.
2. Allah pours on him fire with embers.
3. Allah sets on him a snake called ‘the brave’, ‘the bold’ which hits him from morning until afternoon for leaving Fajr prayer, from the afternoon until Asr for leaving Dhuhr prayer and so on. With each strike he sinks 70 yards under the ground.

THE THREE PUNISHMENTS ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT :
1. Allah sends who would accompany him to hell pulling him on the face.
2. Allah gives him an angry look that makes the flesh of his face fall down.
3. Allah judges him strictly and orders him to be thrown in hell.

Truth ::

The hadeeth, “Whoever neglects prayer, Allaah will send fifteen punishments upon him, six in this world, three when he is dying, three in the grave and three when he emerges form the grave…is a fabricated (mawdoo’) hadeeth which is falsely attributed to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Concerning this hadeeth Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) said, in the magazine al-Buhooth al-Islamiyyah (22/329):

With regard to the hadeeth which the author of this pamphlet attributes to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) concerning the punishment of the one who does not pray, and which says that fifteen punishment will be sent upon him etc., this is one of the fabricated ahaadeeth that are falsely attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), as was stated by the scholars (may Allaah have mercy on him) such as al-Haafiz al-Dhahabi in Lisaan al-Meezaan, and al-Haafiz ibn Hajar and others.

Similarly the Standing Committee issued a fatwa, no. 8689, declaring this hadeeth to be false, as it says in Fataawa al-Lajnah, 4/468. Among the things mentioned in this fatwa which it is worth quoting here is:

What has been narrated from Allaah and from His Messenger concerning the punishment of the one who does not pray is sufficient.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

Verily, As-Salaah (the prayer) is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours

[al-Nisa’ 4:103]

And Allaah says of the people of Hell (interpretation of the meaning):

“ ‘What has caused you to enter Hell?’

They will say: ‘We were not of those who used to offer the Salaah (prayers)’”

[al-Muddaththir 74:42-43]

and He mentioned among their attributes the fact that they did not pray.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“The covenant that stands between us and them is prayer; whoever gives up prayer is a kaafir.”

Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2621; al-Nasaa’i, 431; Ibn Maajah, 1079. classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 2113.

And there are other verses and ahaadeeth which speak of giving up prayer, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) described it as kufr.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

This hadeeth is mawdoo’ (fabricated) and falsely attributed to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It is not permissible to propagate it unless it is accompanied by a statement that it is fabricated, so that the people will have a clear understanding about it.

Fataawa al-Shaykh published by the Daw’ah center in ‘Anayzah, 1/6

We ask Allaah to make you steadfast in your keenness to call your brothers and advise them, but you have to make it clear to everyone who is keen to do good for the people and to warn them against evil that it must be done in accordance with that which is proven from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and that there is sufficient material in the saheeh reports that we have no need for the da’eef (weak) material.

And Allaah knows best.
