Competing for the Hereafter…

by ‘Abdul-Bârî ibn ‘Awad ath-Thubaytî

I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad r is His Servant and Messenger. May Allaah bestow peace and blessings upon him, his family and companions.

Brothers in Islaam, fear Allaah as He should be feared and be mindful of Him openly and secretly.

“O you who believe! fear Allaah as He should be feared and die not except in the state of Islaam.” (Aal ‘Imraan 3:102).

Fellow Muslims, Our Almighty Lord says

“And march forth in the way (which leads) to forgiveness from your Lord and for Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for the pious.” (Aal ‘Imraan 3:133).

He also says:

“Race one with another in hastening towards Forgiveness from your Lord, and towards Paradise, the width whereof is as the width of heaven and earth, prepared for those who believe in Allaah and His Messengers. That is the Grace of Allaah which He bestows on whom He pleases. And Allaah is the Owner of Great Bounty.” (Al-Hadeed 57:21)[1]

Dear brethren,

when one carefully looks at peoples’ behavior, he will notice different kinds of competition. Some people do compete over this mundane world as to conquer and hold it in their possession; some compete over the attainment of high positions; some compete to achieve fame and stardom and some compete on building luxurious houses just as if this world is an everlasting one.

Let us leave those people moving directionlessly in their fake pleasures and ponder over a better and sublime competition; a competition that is encouraged by the Glorious Qur’aan. It is a race towards the Pleasure of Allaah and the Paradise, a competition in the field of righteous deeds. It is a competition in which the participants are wise people who are aware that this live is short hence they compete with one another in investing their lives in acts of obedience to Allaah.
The Messenger of Allaah saws kindled the fire of race towards what pleases Allaah in the hearts of his companions when he said:

“The Mufarridoon have gone ahead!’ The companions asked: ‘Who are the Mufarridoon O Messenger of Allaah!’ He answered: “They are those men and women who remember Allaah much.” (Muslim)

He also said

“Should I teach something with which you can catch up with those who have gone ahead of you and outstrip those who are behind you and none will be better than you except the one who does as you do?’ They said: ‘Yes! O Messenger of Allaah!’ He said: ‘You should glorify Allaah, exalt him and praise Him 33 times at the end of every prayer.” (Muslim)

He also said:

“If people had known the reward of Aadhaan and the first row (in the congregational prayer) and would not get a way to it except by casting lots they would have certainly done that; and if they had known the reward in the midnoon prayer, they would have raced with one another to attend it. If they had known the reward in the late evening prayer (‘Ishaa) and the dawn prayer (Fajr) they would have attended it even if they had to crawl.” (Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim).

When you read the stories of the Sahaabah, you will see that they are resolute, enthusiastic and serious as far as good deeds are concerned to the extent that the poor among them do compete with the rich in carrying out meritorious acts even though they had no excessive money with which they could compete with them in acts of charity.

Some poor companions came to the Messenger of Allaah saws one day and asked him of what they could do to be ahead of the rich in terms of reward.

They said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah! The rich people have made away with rewards. They pray as we do, fast as we do and spend their excessive wealth in charity.’

He answered: ‘Has Allaah not provided for you what you can do charity with? Indeed, every glorification (Subhaanallaah) that you do is charity, every exaltation (Allaahu Akbar) that you do is charity, every praise that you give(Alhamdulillaah) is charity, every ‘Laailaaha illa Allaah’ that you say is charity, enjoining what is good is charity, preventing evil is charity and even doing marital intercourse with one’s spouse is charity.’

They said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah! How can we enjoy ourselves and still get reward for it?’
He replied: ‘Tell me, if he does it in an unlawful way, is it not going to be a sin? Likewise is when he does it in a lawful way, he is going to get a reward for that.” (Muslim).

Here is a good example of the Sahaabahs’ competition with one another in the field of meritorious deeds. In the days of the Battle of Badr, Sa‘d ibn Khaythamah draw lots with his father as to whom of both will participate in the battle. Sa‘d’s lot emerged and his father told him: ‘My son, give me preference over yourself today.’Sa‘d answered: ‘If it is other things beside Paradise I would have done that.’So Sa‘d went to the Battle of Badr and was martyred. His father later took part in the Battle of Uhud and also got martyred.

The noble and commendable competitions that occurred between Aboo Bakr and ‘Umar is also well-known though ‘Umar never succeeded in outstripping Aboo Bakr. To cite an example, the Messenger of Allaah saws once called upon his companions to give charity.

‘Umar saw that as an oppurtunity to outstrip Aboo Bakr and he said: ‘Today, I am going to surpass Aboo Bakr.’ He said: ‘So I came with half of my property. The Messenger of Allaah r asked: ‘What have you left for your family?’ I answered: ‘As much as this.’ Then Aboo Bakr came with all that he has and the Messenger of Allaah r said: ‘What have you left for your family?’ He replied: ‘I left for them Allaah and his Messenger.’ It is then that I said: ‘I shall never compete with him on anything again.” (At-Tirmidhee).

It is quite wonderful that Aboo Bakr participated competitively in all aspects of good deeds; be it spending in the cause of Allaah, worship and propagation of Islaam.

Actually, entering the competition for meritorious acts creates in a Muslim a desire to meet up with those who are above him in terms of devotion, Da‘wah and Jihad. Some ‘Ulamaa while commenting on the verse:

“Hasten towards all that is good” (Al-Baqarah 2:1448) said: “Whoever beats others to the righteous deeds in this world will be the foremost on the Last Day and the foremost people are the highest in position.”

Allaah says while lauding the foremost:

“Verily, they used to hasten on to do good deeds, and they use to call on Us with hope and fear, and used to humble themselves before Us.” (Al-Anbiyaa 21:90)

The above verses are enough to make a Muslim aim for the highest possible rank through a noble race towards all acts of worship. As for the Taabi‘een, they have laid a great example in the arena of competition over good deeds. They used to rebuke their souls whenever it lagged behind in the race towards righteous acts and they would tell it:

“The Sahaabah rode behind the Prophet saws on the backs of the perfectly breeded race horses and we are riding on the backs of lame donkeys. Do you then want to hamper our movement so that they can win the Messenger of Allaah saws while we remain on the way? ..By Allaah, we shall meet up with them even though we have to crawl so that they will know that those they left behind are really men.”

If you therefore, want to increase your reward in the hereafter, hasten to join the arena of the great race, for you are now in the season of good deeds. The highest thing that people can compete for is the Paradise which is as wide as are the heavens and the earth. Allaah says:

“Such is the Paradise which We shall give as an inheritance to those of Our slaves who have been Al-Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons).” (Maryam 19:63)

These are the last days of Ramadaan; days of bounties and rewards. It is a period in which supplications are answered and it is the best time to beseech the Lord of the heavens and the earth. For this let the competitors do compete.

Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim reported from Aaishah that she said:

“In the last ten days of Ramadaan, the Prophet saws would tighten his loincloth, spend his nights in worship and wake up his household.”

These three short sentences explain the manner in which the Prophet r spent the last ten days of Ramadaan in the most beautiful way. You all know how busy the Prophet r used to be, yet he would not allow this best season to go unused in acts of worship. He would devote himself exclusively during these ten days to Ibaadah, seeking for Allaah’s reward. He would do all this, regardless of the fact that Allaah has forgiven him all his sins. What then are we doing?!!

The phrase ‘ would tighten his loincloth’ is used figuratively to mean: ‘he would exert all efforts and vigor in the acts of ‘Ibaadah’.The Messenger of Allaah would preoccupy himself with different kinds of worship throught the day and night. You would see him standing in prayer, doing a lot of Istighfaar, reciting the glorious Qur’aan and raising his hand in prayer doing all these in the quest for Lailatu-Qadr upon which a Soorah -that will continue to be recited till the Day of Ressurection- was revealed:

“We have sent it (this Qur’an) in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree). And what will make you know the night of Al-Qadr (Decree). The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months). Therein descend the angels and the Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] by Allah’s Permission with all Decrees. Peace! (All that night, there is Peace and Goodness from Allah to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn.”

Yet, it is quite unfortunate that Satan do overpower some people and prevent them from remembrance of Allaah and other acts of worship during these good and merciful seasons with trivialities like how to spend the Eid nights, what to wear, passing the night in pastime and the day in sleep hence making them lose the reality of fasting and the blessing of Laylatul-Qadr (night of majesty).

Dear brethren, your Lord is throwing His doors of Mercy opened and is providing you with means to prosperity. Why then would some people be unheeding?! He is saying:

“O ‘Ibaadee (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the mercy of Allaah, verily Allaah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And turn in repentance and in obedience with true Faith (Islamic Monotheism) to your Lord and submit to Him (in Islam), before the torment comes upon you, then you will not be helped.” (Az-Zumar 39:53-54)

Punishment In The Grave – Reasons Behind It,
And How To Avoid It

Punishment in Grave and How to Avoid It

All praise is due to Allaah, Lord of the universe, may He exalt the mention of Prophet Muhammad who was sent as a mercy for mankind.

Reasons behind the punishment in the grave

Imaam ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allaah have mercy upon him, dedicated a full chapter in his famous book ‘Ar-Rooh’ (The soul) for this issue, and he began it by stating: “One might ask: what are the reasons behind some people being punished in the grave? There are two answers, a detailed one and a summarized one:

The summarized answer is they get punished because of their ignorance concerning Allaah, their disobedience to Him and their committing what He prohibited; Allaah will not punish a soul which knew Him, loved Him, adhered to what He commanded and refrained from what He prohibited, nor will He punish the body in which such a soul was. The punishment in the grave and in the Hereafter is an indication of the wrath of Allaah upon His slave; The one who makes Allaah angry in this life and did not repent, and dies while in that state will be punished in the grave according to the extent he angered Allaah;some will be punished for a short while, and others for a long time.

The detailed answer is what the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam informed us about, when he spoke of the two men whom he saw being punished while in their graves; because one of them went around tale-bearing to cause disputes between people, and the other one was not cleaning nor purifying himself after urinating; the second one abandoned the obligatory purification, and the first one committed what causes enmity between people by the evil use of his tongue, even if what he was saying was true. In this there is an indication that the one who causes enmity between people by lying and spreading false statements will receive a harsh punishment, and likewise, there is an indication that the one who abandons prayer will receive a harsher punishment than the one who does not purify himself after urinating, because this purification is only a precondition for praying. In another narration, he sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam informed us that one of the two who were being punished, was a person who used to backbite others.”

In one of the Ahaadeeth, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam informed us about a man in his grave who was lashed once with a whip, causing his grave to become full of fire. This was because he prayed a prayer once without being in the state of ablution, and he also once passed by an oppressed person and did not help him, although he could have done so. (At-Tahaawi).

Imaam Bukhaari, may Allaah have mercy upon him, mentioned in his book a narration by Samurah ibn Jundub, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam informed about the punishment of some people, like one who was punished because he used to lie and his lies became widespread among people; another used to memorize the Quran yet would sleep all night without praying, and would not apply its teachings during the day;

a third group of people were those who committed adultery and fornication; another ate up the money earned from Riba (usury and interest). The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam informed about all these types of people as he was made able to see them being punished in their graves.

In another Hadeeth, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam told us about some people whose heads are smashed with a rock in their graves because they slept through prayers and never performed them. He sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam also told us about those who are forced to eat Zaqqoom (a plant in Hell) because they did not pay their Zakaah (obligatory charity); others have to eat foul rotten meat because they used to commit adultery and fornication; others’ lips are clipped because they used to cause dispute between people during times of trials.

The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam also told us about a man who took a garment from the war booties without informing the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam of this, and how that resulted in the garment becoming fire which burnt him while he was in his grave.

The punishment in the grave is the result of the sins committed by the heart, the eyes, the ears, the mouth, the tongue, the stomach, the private parts, the hands, the feet, and the body as a whole. The following are some sins which bring about punishment in the grave:

  • Tale-bearing, backbiting, and slandering.
  • Giving false testimony.
  • Causing disputes between people.
  • Innovating in matters of religion.
  • Talking on behalf of Allaah and His Messenger without knowledge.
  • Consuming Riba (interest and usury).
  • Devouring the wealth of orphans without due right.
  • Dealing with bribery.
  • Consuming the money of fellow Muslims, or one with whom a person has an agreement, without due right.
  • Consuming intoxicants.
  • Fornication, adultery, and homosexuality.
  • Theft and murder.
  • Deception, betrayal, and fraud.
  • Usage of deception to change what is Islamically unlawful to lawful, or to prevent the performance of Islamic obligations and encourage committing of prohibitions.
  • Harming Muslims and hunting for their mistakes.
  • Ruling with other than what Allaah legislated, or passing Islamic rulings
  • which differ from what Allaah prescribed and legislated.
  • Assisting oppressors and evil doers.
  • Incapacitating the meaning of the Names and Attributes of Allaah or disbelieving in them.
  • Giving precedence to one’s own opinions, tastes or politics over the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, or slandering our Salaf (pious predecessors).
  • Being a woman who is hired by the family of a deceased person to cry loudly upon his death, or being one of those who listen to her.
  • Singing, being a musician, or being one who listens to them.
  • Building mosques over graves.
  • Giving less in measure to others when one is weighing, but taking more for oneself when being weighed for.
  • Tyranny, arrogance, boasting, and aiding those who have such characteristics in these qualities.
  • Indifference to being reminded of Allaah, but refraining from what one is doing when threatened by mere humans.
  • Going to fortunetellers and magicians, and believing them.
  • Not paying attention or giving importance to the words of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, but listening and adhering to admonition from a regular human being,Reciting the Quran, but not being affected by it, and even becoming preoccupied by something else during it; but when listening to music, which is an introduction to adultery and the substance for hypocrisy, rejoicing and becoming excited, and even wishing that the music would never stop.
  • Giving false oaths when swearing by Allaah, but being truthful when swearing by the name of one’s Shaykh, father, leader or anyone else whom one loves dearly.
  • Openly bragging about one’s sins.
  • Being untrustworthy with regards to people’s wealth or honor.
  • Having a licentious tongue, which causes others to avoid one for fear of his evil.
  • Delaying prayer to the end of its prescribed time, then praying it hurriedly.
  • Paying Zakaah resentfully and only due to coercion.
  • Not performing Hajj despite being physically and financially capable.
  • Not fulfilling people’s due rights despite being capable of doing so.
  • Not fearing Allaah in one’s means of earning provisions.
  • Severing ties of kinship.
  • Showing no mercy to the needy, widows and orphans.
  • Showing no mercy to animals.

All of the above mentioned categories of people, and others like them, will be punished in their graves on account of their crimes, each according to how much he committed. He will be punished accordingly unless he repents to Allaah and Allaah forgives him due to his repentance, or due to His
general mercy upon the Muslims.

How to avoid it

Imaam ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said: “In general, refraining from what causes punishment in the grave is the best way to avoid being punished. One needs to sit for a while before he goes to bed and hold himself accountable for what he gained during that day and what he lost, then renew his sincere repentance to Allaah and sleep after having repented, and when he wakes up, be determined not to commit the same sins again. He should do this every night; if he dies that night he would die after having repented, and if he would wake up, he would wake up happy because he was delayed and given a chance to strive hard in good deeds to make up for what he missed out on.

There is nothing better or more beneficial than such a way of going to sleep, especially if he follows this accountability with mentioning Allaah and follows the recommendations of Sunnah in how to go to sleep and supplicate until he falls asleep. The one whom Allaah wills good for, He will guide him to doing so.”

In detail, we remind people with the Ahaadeeth of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam which inform us about some ways which will rescue us from punishment in the grave:

Salmaan Al-Faarisi, may Allaah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “Ribaat (guarding the front lines of the Muslim army) for one day is better (in reward) than fasting for a full month and praying during its nights; and the one who dies while in that position will have the reward of the deeds he was doing to continue (until The Day of Resurrection) and he will be saved from the punishment of the grave.” (Muslim).

* One of the companions of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, may Allaah be pleased with him, asked the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam: “How come all people are tried in their graves except for the martyrs?” He sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam replied: “The flashing of the swords over their heads is enough of a trial” (An-Nasaa’i).

* Al-Miqdaad ibn Ma’d Yakrib, may Allaah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “The martyr has seven qualities which Allaah grants him: he will be forgiven with the first drop of his blood, he will see his seat in Paradise, he will be rescued
from the punishment of the grave, he will be rescued from the Great Horror (on the Day of Resurrection), he will wear a (special) garment of faith, he will marry seventy two women of Paradise, and he will be allowed to intercede for seventy of his family.” (Ibn Maajah). In another
narration he sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “The crown of dignity will be placed on his (i.e., the martyr’s) head, each corundum (of which) is better than this world and all what it contains; he will have seventy two wives from the ladies of Paradise, and he will be allowed to intercede for seventy of his family.” (At-Tirmithi).

* Abu Hurayrah, may Allaah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “There is a chapter in the Quran (Al- Mulk) that has thirty verses; it will intercede for the one who continuously recites it, until he is forgiven.” (An-Nasaa’i & Ibn Maajah). This Hadeeth, and others which carry the same meaning, prove that those who regularly recite chapter Al-Mulk and apply what is in it,will be rescued from the punishment in the grave.

* The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “The one who dies as a result of a stomach sickness will not be punished in his grave.” (At- Tirmithi). This reward will be for those who do not despair upon their sickness, but rather persevere through it and hope for the reward from Allaah.

* The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “Allaah will protect from the trials in the grave, any Muslim who dies on a Friday – day or night.” (Ahmad).

* Fulfilling piety, Allaah says what means: “Verily, those who say: Our Lord is (only) Allaah, and thereafter stand firm (on the Islamic Faith of Monotheism), on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.” (Al- Ahqaaf: 13).

War on Terror ? Or Its War on Innocent humans ?

We have an obligation to every last victim of this illegal aggression because all of this carnage has been done in our name.

Since World War II, 90% of the casualties of war are unarmed civilians. 1/3 of them children. Our victims have done nothing to us. From Palestine to Afghanistan to Iraq to Somalia to wherever our next target may be, their murders are not collateral damage, they are the nature of modern warfare.

They don’t hate us because of our freedoms. They hate us because every day we are funding and committing crimes against humanity.

The so-called “war on terror” is a cover for our military aggression to gain control of the resources of western Asia.

This is sending the poor of this country to kill the poor of those Muslim countries. This is trading blood for oil. This is genocide, and to most of the world, we are the terrorists. In these times, remaining silent on our responsibility to the world and its future is criminal. And in light of our complicity in the supreme crimes against humanity in Iraq and Afghanistan, and ongoing violations of the U.N. Charter in International Law, how dare any American criticize the actions of legitimate resistance to illegal occupation.

Our so-called enemies in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, our other colonies around the world, and our inner cities here at home, are struggling against the oppressive hand of empire, demanding respect for their humanity. They are labeled insurgents or terrorists for resisting rape and pillage by the white establishment, but they are our brothers and sisters in the struggle for justice.

The civilians at the other end of our weapons don’t have a choice, but American soldiers have choices, and while there may have been some doubt 5 years ago, today we know the truth. Our soldiers don’t sacrifice for duty-honor-country, they sacrifice for Kellogg Brown & Root.

They don’t fight for America, they fight for their lives and their buddies beside them, because we put them in a war zone. They’re not defending our freedoms, they’re laying the foundation for 14 permanent military bases to defend the freedoms of Exxon Mobil and British Petroleum.

They’re not establishing democracy, they’re establishing the basis for an economic occupation to continue after the military occupation has ended. Iraqi society today, thanks to American “help” is defined by house raids, death squads, check-points, detentions, curfews, blood in the streets, and constant violence. We must dare to speak out in support of the Iraqi people, who resist and endure the horrific existence we brought upon them through our bloodthirsty imperial crusade.

We must dare to speak out in support of those American war-resisters, the real military heroes, who uphold their oath to defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, including those terrorist cells in Washington DC more commonly known as the Legislative, Executive & Judicial branches.

Every one of us, every one of us must keep demanding, keep fighting, keep thundering, keep plowing, keep speaking, keep struggling until justice is served.

NO justice, NO peace.

Egypt ‘necrophilia law’? HOAX?

having sex with dead wife is allowed in islam ?

‘Necrophilia law’? Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet, kids. At least until there’s like, you know, some proof.

In Last Week of April a story spread across the internet  that Egypt’s Parliament was going to consider a law that would allow Egyptian men to have sex with their dead wives for up to six hours after they died.  The story began with an article in Al Ahram by Amru Abdul Samea, and was picked up by other media sites, and then by the blogsphere.  Many of us had reservations about the truth of this story, especially since Al Ahram is the government newspaper, and the only source for all of the subsequent stories was this Abdul Samea.

The Islamophobes jumped on this gleefully and used this news in there best ways…some Popular Islamophobes says :

— Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs posted an article Islamic Egypt Plans “Farewell Fornication Law” so Husbands can have sex with dead wives.

— Bare Naked Islam posted an article including disgusting photographs.

— Robert Spencer posted an article from Al Ahram with the intro “Here is yet more delightful evidence that Sharia is benign and completely compatible with U.S. Constitutional values, as we are constantly told.”

— Debbie Schlussel posted an article also with disgusting pictures and these comments from Schlussel “Yay–yet another “democratic” reform in Islamic Egypt, yet another reason to back up Barack Obama’s forcing out of Hosni Mubarak: the Muslim fanatics now running the country are enacting a new “farewell intercourse law,” which allows husbands to have sex with their dead wives up to six hours after their deaths. Very convenient: get rid of the wife in an honor killing, then have make-up sex right after, without any resistance.  …  Aren’t ya glad Egypt is “liberated”?!  On the other hand, this ain’t about Egypt or artificially created borders in the Arab world. It’s just Islam. Again, THIS. IS. ISLAM. “Religion of Peace.” And Religion of Sex with the Female Already-Rested In Peace.”

— Ann Barnhardt on the American Thinker posted an article that contained this disgusting passage:

“Necrophilia is not a joke.  It is real, and it is being openly ratified and encouraged by the satanic political cult of Islam.  A culture of people who are so far gone that they literally see nothing wrong with copulating with dead bodies is a culture that is capable of any evil imaginable, and cannot be stopped with any appeal to decency, morality, or shame.  What we are seeing in the Muslim world is the final descent of a human society into hell itself, and they will attempt to take as many others with them as they possibly can.  If these people are capable of “sexual pleasure” with not just corpses, but the corpse of the one person in the world who they should have loved and respected above all others, do you honestly believe that they would hesitate for a moment in merely pushing a button that launched nuclear warheads at Tel Aviv, or London, or New York? Now, behold the fruits of the “Arab Spring”, engineered and fertilized by the Obama regime.  In Egypt today, a bill has been introduced by the new Islamist parliament legalizing “farewell intercourse”, affording a man a six hour window after his wife’s death for necrophilic sex.  The Moroccan fatwa was not merely a “one-off.”  Necrophilia is culturally intrinsic to those societies poisoned by the satanic political cult of Islam.  A clash between civilization and anti-civilization is coming, and coming fast.  The enemy is not laughing.  I would strongly recommend that we stop laughing at the enemy, and make ready for battle.”
— Walid Shoebat posted an article If you reject Necrophilia, you might be Islamophobic

The Islamophobes are not concerned with facts, their purpose is to demean Muslims, and running with this story is an example of how successful they are with their base.  Here are a few comments from Pamela Geller’s readers:

— Necrophilia is Islamic, Muhammad practiced it so it perfectly moral behavior (for a Muslim, anyway). Please read the rebuttel of this sick claim “Muhammad had sex dead women”  from Christians is exposed . you can see how shamelessly they create lies against my beloved prophet pbuh.

— UNbelievable . . . but so easy to believe from these horrors, these sub-humans.  ONE MORE REASON to support Israel

— Necrophilia being a part of the death cult called pisslam doesn’t surprise me in the slightest.

— Wow. That’s about as low as they can get. Depraved, abbherant behavior fitting of only the lowest form of life, or the most vile criminals is sanctioned as a part of their “religion.” How can anyone with even a half a brain cell firing think that behavior is okay?? Wonder how long it will be before we hear it’s perfectly permissible for Muslims to eat their babies after honor killing them.

— Muscums are really sick and very mentally sick animals .

— I used to think that moslems were sub-human. Now I know that they are mindless zombies straight from the bowels of hell.

It was hard to believe that there could be any truth to this story, however, not only Al Ahram, but then Al Arabiya had reported that Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) has appealed to the Islamist-dominated parliament not to approve two controversial laws on the minimum age of marriage and allowing a husband to have sex with his dead wife within six hours of her death according to a report in an Egyptian newspaper.   And, this supposed appeal from what seemed to be a real organization added some legitimacy to the possible validity of the story and outsource Islamophobes dont care to find out truth if anything is linked with Muslims.

But The Facts totally different :

Dan Murphy at the Christian Science Monitor was the first to say that the story of the Egyptian Parliament considering such a law is  without any substantiating evidence.

Egypt ‘necrophilia law’? Hooey, utter hooey.

Today, Egypt’s state-owned Al Ahram newspaper published an opinion piece by Amr Abdul Samea, a past stalwart supporter of the deposed Hosni Mubarak, that contained a bombshell: Egypt’s parliament is considering passing a law that would allow husbands to have sex with their wives after death.

It was soon mentioned in an English language version of Al-Arabiya and immediately started zipping around social-networking sites. By this afternoon it had set news sites and the rest of the Internet on fire. It has every thing: The yuck factor, “those creepy Muslims” factor, the lulz factor for those with a sick sense of humor. The non-fact-checked Daily Mail picked it up and reported it as fact. Then Andrew Sullivan, who has a highly influential blog but is frequently lax about fact-checking, gave it a boost with an uncritical take. The Huffington Post went there, too.

There’s of course one problem: The chances of any such piece of legislation being considered by the Egyptian parliament for a vote is zero. And the chance of it ever passing is less than that. In fact, color me highly skeptical that anyone is even trying to advance a piece of legislation like this through Egypt’s parliament. I’m willing to be proven wrong. It’s possible that there’s one or two lawmakers completely out of step with the rest of parliament. Maybe.

But extreme, not to mention inflammatory claims, need at minimum some evidence (and I’ve read my share of utter nonsense in Al Ahram over the years). The evidence right now? Zero.

There was a Moroccan cleric a few years back who apparently did issue a religious ruling saying that husbands remained married to their wives in the first six hours after death and, so, well, you know. But that guy is far, far out on the nutty fringe. How fringe? He also ruled that pregnant women can drink alcohol. Remember, alcohol is considered haram, forbidden, by the vast majority of the world’s Muslim scholars. Putting an unborn child at risk to get drunk? No, that’s just not what they do. Whatever the mainstream’s unpalatable beliefs (there are plenty from my perspective) this isn’t one of them.

It’s important to remember that the structure of the Muslim clergy is, by and large, like that of a number of Protestant Christian sects. Anyone can put out a shingle and declare themselves a preacher. The ones to pay attention to are the ones with large followings, or attachment to major institutions of Islamic learning. The preacher in Morocco is like the preacher in Florida who spent so much time and energy publicizing the burning of Qurans.

Stories like this are a reminder of the downside of the Internet. It makes fact-checking and monitoring easier. But the proliferation of aggregation sites, newsy blog sites, and the general erosion of editorial standards (and on-the-ground reporters to do the heavy lifting) also spreads silliness faster than it ever could before.

Reported Egypt Necrophilia Legislation Called ‘Hoax’ by Parliament

The age-old practice of banging your dead wife may be resurrected in Egypt, if members of the newly elected Islamist-dominated parliament have their say.

Or, so the Internet story goes.

Shocking reports circulated last week in Egyptian and Arab media outlets about a proposed “Farewell Intercourse” draft law, which allegedly stated that a husband would be able to legally fuck his partner’s decomposing body for up to six hours following her death.

But early this week Al Arabiya News reported that several members of the Egyptian parliament denied the rumors originally published last Tuesday by Egyptian state-run al-Ahram newspaper and Egyptian ON TV, which spread to the International media outlets.

The People’s Assembly Secretary General, Samy Mahran said, “I have never heard of anything in this regard.”

Islamist MP Mamdouh Ismail told Al Arabiya, “This is indecent and nonsense. The whole issue is unacceptable. It is even unacceptable to give any statement to media about this issue.”

Written records suggest the act of necrophilia dates back to Ancient Egypt. In order to discourage corpse intercourse, attractive dead chicks were left to decay for three to four days before being handed over to embalmers. Other societies in Southeast Asia, Central Europe and South America practiced necromancy to communicate with the deceased, and performed necrophilic deeds to consummate marriage after death, or to lay a virgin or soul to rest.

This week MP Hisham Ahmed Hanafi told the London-based Asharq al-Awsat, “Such reports are completely false and aim mainly to deform the image of the Egyptian parliament.”

MP Ashraf Agour of the Construction and Development Party also rebuffed the reports saying, “The issue has never been discussed in the parliament.”

And MP Amin Eskandar of al-Karama Party was also quoted, “These kinds of controversial laws are very dangerous and create a state of fear inside the community, the general atmosphere in the Egyptian parliament is vulnerable to such kinds of rumors.”

Analysts are claiming the necrophilia news piece was a hoax planted by supporters of Hosni Mubarak to defame Egyptian Islamists in power.
