Was Muhammad (P.B.U.H) a True Prophet?

_

pink_mdMuhammad (P.B.U.H) the son of `Abdullaah, is Allaah’s Prophet and the Final Messenger sent by Allaah to the inhabitants of the earth. You should know that he (P.B.U.H) is Allaah’s Messenger in reality and truth. The evidences that show his veracity are abundant. None but an infidel, who out of arrogance alone, could deny these signs.

Among these proofs:

1.    Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was raised illiterate, unable to read or write, and remained like that till his death. Among all his people, he (P.B.U.H) was known as being truthful and trustworthy. Before receiving revelation, he (P.B.U.H) had no prior knowledge of religion or any previously sent Message. He (P.B.U.H) remained like that for his first forty years. Revelation then came to Muhammad (P.B.U.H) with the Quran that we now have between our hands. This Quran mentioned most of the accounts found in the previous scriptures, telling us about these events in the greatest detail as if he (P.B.U.H) witnessed them. These accounts came precisely as they were found in the Torah sent down to Moses (P.B.U.H) and in the Gospel sent down to Jesus (P.B.U.H). Never the less, neither the Jews nor the Christians believed anything that he (P.B.U.H) said.

2.    Muhammad (P.B.U.H) also foretold of everything that would occur to him and his community after him, pertaining to victory, the removal of the tyrannical kingdoms of Chosroes [the royal title for the Zoroastrian kings of Persia] and Caesar, and the establishment of the religion of Islam throughout the earth. These events occurred exactly as Muhammad (P.B.U.H) foretold, as if he (P.B.U.H) was reading the future from an open book.

3.    Muhammad (P.B.U.H) also conveyed an Arabic Quran that is the peak of eloquence and clarity. The Quran challenged those eloquent and fluent Arabs of his time, who initially belied him, to bring forth a single chapter like the Quran. The eloquent Arabs of his day were unable to contest this Quran. Indeed, till our day, none has ever dared to claim that he has been able to compose words that equal-or even approach-the order, grace, beauty and splendor of this Glorious Quran.

4.    The life history of this Noble Prophet (P.B.U.H) was a perfect example of being upright, merciful, compassionate, truthful, brave, generous, distant from all evil character, and ascetic in all worldly matters, while striving solely for the reward of the Hereafter. Moreover, in all his actions and dealings, he (P.B.U.H) was ever mindful and fearful of Allaah.

5.    Allaah instilled great love for Muhammad (P.B.U.H) in the hearts of all who believed in and met him (P.B.U.H). This love reached such a degree that any of his companions would willingly sacrifice his (or her) self, mother or father for him (P.B.U.H). Till today, those who believe in Muhammad (P.B.U.H) honor and love him. Anyone of those who believe in him would ransom his own family and wealth to see him (P.B.U.H) even if but once.

6.    All of history has not preserved the biography of any person in the manner it has preserved the life of Muhammad (P.B.U.H) who is the most influential human in history. Nor has the entire earth known of anyone whom every morning and evening, and many times thereafter throughout the day, is thought of by those who believe in him. Upon remembering Muhammad (P.B.U.H) the believers in him will greet him and ask Allaah to bless him (P.B.U.H) and exalt his status. They do such with full hearts and true love for him (P.B.U.H).

7.    Nor has there every been a man on earth whom is still followed in all his doings by those who believe in him (P.B.U.H). Those who believe in Muhammad (P.B.U.H)sleep in the manner he (P.B.U.H) slept; purify themselves (through ablution and ritual washing) in the manner he (P.B.U.H) purified himself; and adhere to his practice in the way they eat, drink, and clothe themselves.

Indeed in all aspects of their lives, the believers in Muhammad (P.B.U.H) adhere to the teachings he (P.B.U.H) spread among them and the path that he traveled upon during his life. During every generation, from his day till our time, the believers in this Noble Prophet (P.B.U.H) have fully adhered to his teachings. With some, this has reached the degree that they desire to follow and adhere to the Prophet’s way in his (P.B.U.H) personal matters regarding which Allaah has not sought of them to adhere to in worship. For example, some will only eat those specific foods or only wear those specific garments that the Messenger (P.B.U.H) liked.

Let alone all that, all those who believe in Muhammad (P.B.U.H) repeat those praises of Allaah, special prayers, and invocations that he (P.B.U.H) would say during each of his actions during day and night, like: what he (P.B.U.H) would say when he greeted people, upon entering and leaving the house, entering and leaving the mosque, entering and leaving the bathroom, going to sleep and awaking from sleep, observing the new crescent, observing the new fruit on trees, eating, drinking, dressing, riding, traveling and returning from travel, etc.

Moreover, all those who believe in Muhammad (P.B.U.H) fully perform – even to the minute detail – every act of worship, like prayer, fasting, charity, and pilgrimage, as this Noble Messenger (P.B.U.H) taught and as he (P.B.U.H) himself performed. All of this allows those who believe in him (P.B.U.H) to live their lives in all aspects with this Noble Messenger (P.B.U.H) as their example, as if he (P.B.U.H) was standing before them, for them to follow in all their doings.

8.    There has never been, nor will there ever be, a man anywhere upon this earth who has received such love, respect, honor, and obedience in all matters, small and large alike, as has this Noble Prophet (P.B.U.H).

9. Since his days, in every region of the earth and during every period, this Noble Prophet (P.B.U.H) has been followed by individuals from all nations, colors and peoples. Many of those who followed him were previously Christians, Jews, pagans, idolaters, or without any religion. Among those who chose to follow him, were those who were known for their sound judgment, wisdom, reflection, and foresight. They chose to follow this Noble Prophet (P.B.U.H)after they witnessed the signs of his truthfulness and the evidences of his miracles. They did not choose to follow Muhammad (P.B.U.H) out of compulsion or coercion or because they had adopted the ways of their fathers and mothers.

Indeed many of the followers of this Prophet (P.B.U.H) chose to follow him during the time when Islam was weak, when there were few Muslims, and when there was severe persecution of his followers on earth. People who have followed this Prophet (P.B.U.H) have not done so to acquire some material benefits. Indeed many of his followers have suffered the greatest forms of harm and persecution as a result of following him. Despite all this harm and persecution, this did not turn them back from his religion. All of this clearly indicates, to anyone possessing any sense, that this Prophet (P.B.U.H) was truly and really Allaah’s messenger and that he (P.B.U.H) was not just a man who claimed prophethood or spoke about Allaah without knowledge.

9.    With all this, Muhammad (P.B.U.H) came with a great religion in its creedal and legal make-up. Muhammad (P.B.U.H) described Allaah with qualities of complete perfection, and at the same time in a manner that is free of ascribing to Him any imperfection. Neither the philosophers or the wise could ever describe Allaah like such. Indeed it is impossible to imagine that any human mind could conceive of an existing being that possesses such complete ability and greatness Who has subdued the creation, Who has encompassed everything in the universe, small or large, and Who possesses such perfect mercy. Nor is it in the ability of any human being to place a perfect law based upon justice, equality, mercy and objectivity for all human activity on earth like the laws that Muhammad (P.B.U.H) conveyed to all spheres of human activity – like buying and selling, marriage and divorce, renting, testimony, custody, and all other contracts that are necessary to uphold life and civilization on earth.

10.  It is impossible that any person conceive wisdom, morals, good manners, and nobleness of characters as what this honorable Prophet (P.B.U.H) brought. In a full and complete manner, Muhammad (P.B.U.H) spread a teaching regarding character and manners toward one’s parents, relatives, fiends, family, humanity, animals, plants and inanimate objects. It is impossible for the human mind alone to grasp all of that teaching or come with a similar teaching. All of that unequivocally indicates that this Messenger (P.B.U.H) did not bring any of this religion from his own accord, but that it was rather a teaching and inspiration that he (P.B.U.H) received from The One Who created the earth and the high heavens above and created this universe in its miraculous architecture and perfection.

12. The legal and creedal make-up of the religion that the Messenger Muhammad (P.B.U.H) brought resembles the engineering of the heavens and the earth. All of that indicates that He Who created the heavens and the earth is The One Who sent down this great law and upright religion. The degree of inimitability of the Divine law that was sent down upon Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is to the same degree of inimitability of the Divine creation of the heavens and the earth. For just as humanity cannot create this universe, in the same manner humanity cannot bring forth a law like Allaah’s law that He sent down upon His servant and messenger Muhammad (P.B.U.H).

Devilish Prompting and Confusion While in the Prayer

salatQuestion: I get confused a lot concerning how many rakats I perform, even though I pray in a loud voice in order to remember what I have recited. However, I still get doubts. When I finish the prayer, I feel that I have missed a rakah, prostration or sitting, even though I try very hard not have doubts during my prayer. But still this is without benefit. I hope you will guide me to what will benefit me in such a case. Do I have to repeat the prayer when I have such confusion? Is there some supplication that I can make at the beginning of the prayer that will remove such confusion?

Response: You must fight against such devilish prompting and be cautious about them. You must increase your seeking of refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. Allah has said,

“Say: I seek refuge with [Allah] the Lord of Mankind, the King of Mankind, the God of Mankind, from the evil of the whisperer who withdraws from his whispering…” to the end of the surah (surah al-Nass).

Allah also says,

“And if an evil whisper comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All Knower” (al-Araf 200).

If you have finished your prayer or ablution and then such doubts come to your mind, then turn away from them and don’t give them any attention. Consider your prayer and ablution as proper and sound. If doubts come to you while you are praying, such as whether you have prayed three or four rakats, then consider them as three and finish your prayer, making two prostrations of forgetfulness before the salutations at the end of the prayer. This is what the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered one who had similar doubts to do. We seek refuge in Allah for ourselves and you from Satan.

INSTIGATE LOVE TO ALLAH

All praise is due to Allah alone,

who perfectly controls everything. May He send salutations and exalt the mention of the Warner and the Bringer of Glad Tidings – our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his family and all his companions.

One of the attributes of Allah is that He Loves His believing slaves in a fashion which befits His Majesty and Might; His slaves in turn love Him more than their wealth, children and their own selves.

Allah says what means:

“Allah will bring a people whom He will love and they will love Him.” (Al- Ma’idah:54)

It is mutual love between the Lord and His slaves:

“And of mankind are some who take (for worship) others besides Allah as rivals (to Allah). They love them as they love Allah. But those who believe, love Allah more (than anything else).” (Al-Baqarah: 165)

The Ruling on Loving Allah

Loving Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) more than we love our family, our possessions and anything else in this world is a part of being a true believer in Islam.

Anas narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“I swear by The One in Whose Hands is my soul, none of you will be a complete believer until I am dearer to him than his father, his son, and all of mankind.” (Bukhari)

Loving Allah is a Sign of Strong Belief

The Prophet (peace be upon him) informed us that it is a quality of belief and a sign of enjoying the sweetness of faith is realized when the love of Allah and His Messenger is greater than that of anyone or anything else. Anas Ibn Malik narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“One who attains the following three things will taste the sweetness of faith: To make Allah and His Messenger more beloved to himself than anything else; to love a person for no other reason except for the sake of Allah; and to hate to return to disbelief just as much as he would hate to be thrown into fire.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

Loving Allah is Following the Way of the Prophet (peace be upon him)

Allah says (what means):

“Say (O Muhammad): ‘If you (really) love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.’” (Al ‘Imran:31)

How much do we truly follow the Prophet (peace be upon him)? Where are we when it comes to following his Sunnah in our worship, transactions and manners? Where are we when it comes to following his Sunnah in our supplications, remembrance of Allah, recitation of the Quran, seeking the assistance of Allah, relying on Him and taking refuge in Him? Where are we when it comes to following his Sunnah by being kind to our friends, neighbor and parents, and when it comes to being generous to guests and visiting the sick? Where are we when it comes to following his Sunnah in our etiquettes, humility, mercy, leniency and forgiveness? Where are we when it comes to following his Sunnah in bravery, wisdom and Jihad against the enemies of Allah everywhere?

The Qualities of Those Whom Allah Loves

To do good:

“And do good. Truly, Allah loves the good-doers.” (Al-Baqarah:195)

To repent and purify themselves:

“Truly, Allah loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves.” (Al-Baqarah:222)

To be are pious:

“Yes, whoever fulfils his pledge and fears Allah much; verily, then Allah loves those who are the pious.” (Al ‘Imran:76)

To be patient:

“But they never lost heart for that which did befall them in Allah’s way, nor did they weaken nor degrade themselves. And Allah loves the patient.” (Al ‘Imran:146)

To rely on Allah:

“Then when you have taken a decision, rely on Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who rely on Him.” (Al ‘Imran: 159)

To be just:

“And if you judge, judge with justice between them. Verily, Allah loves those who act justly.” (Al-Ma’idah:42)

To be sincere in Jihad:

“Verily Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in rows (ranks) as if they were a solid structure.” (As-Saff:4)

Beware of Having The Following Qualities

Allah has described in His Book the qualities that we must avoid if we want to one of His believing servants that He loves:

Disbelief: “But if they turn away, then Allah does not like the disbelievers.” (Al ‘Imran:32)

Transgression: “And fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allah likes not the transgressors.” (Al-Baqarah:190)

Mischief-making: “And they (ever) strive to make mischief on the earth. And Allah does not like the mischief-makers.” (Al- Ma’idah:64)

Oppression: “But whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is with Allah. Verily, He likes not the oppressors.” (Ash-Shoora:40)

Pride and boastfulness: “Verily Allah does not like such as are proud and boastful.” (An-Nisa’:36)

Betrayal: “And argue not on behalf of those who deceive themselves. Verily, Allah does not like anyone who is a betrayer, sinner.” (An-Nisa’: 107).

Publicly uttering evil: “Allah does not like that the evil should be uttered in public except by him who has been wronged.” (An-Nisa’:148)

Extravagance: “Eat and drink but waste not by extravagance, certainly He (Allah) likes not those who waste by extravagance.” (Al-A’raf:31)

Taking pride and being ungrateful: “Remember when his people said to him: Do not exult (with riches, being ungrateful to Allah). Verily, Allah likes not those who exult (with riches, being ungrateful to Allah).” (Al- Qasas:76)

How to Earn Allah’s Love

The true description of attaining Allah’s love comes from a Qudsi Hadith,
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said on behalf of his Lord:

“I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshiper of mine. And my servant never comes closer to Me by virtue of anything more than that which I have made compulsory upon him, and my slave continues to draw closer to me by performing optional good deeds until I love him, and if I were to love him I become the hearing by which he hears, the eyesight by which he sees, the hand by which he strikes and the legs by which he walks.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

Things Which Instigate Allah’s Love

Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, mentioned some examples of things which instigate the love of Allah:

1. Reciting the Quran with attentiveness and pondering over its meanings.

2. Performing optional acts of worship after fulfilling the obligatory ones.

3. Always remembering Allah in the heart, by the tongue and deeds, because one will benefit proportional to the amount that he remembers Allah.

4. Favoring His love over any other love, particularly when your desires become strong.

5. Striving hard to reach that which He loves.

6. Learning and pondering over His qualities and attributes, because the one who learns and ponders over the qualities and attributes of Allah will certainly love Him due to this.

7. Thinking about His apparent and concealed favors and kindness.

8. Supplicating and appealing to Him during the last third of every night, reciting His Book, standing with full servitude before Him and begging for His forgiveness.

9. Being around righteous people who sincerely love Allah and learning the best of what they say, just as one would pick the best fruit from a tree. Also, one should not speak unless one is certain that this is the correct thing to do and that one will benefit by this.

10. Refraining from anything which might become an obstacle between oneself and Allah.

All these can be achieved by being willing to perform them and having insight, which can only happen after the help of Allah.

The Marriages of the Holy Prophet

Edited by KING-slave of ALLAH
[]
[Note: Many anti-Islamic sites spread misconceptions relating to our Beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) marriages. through this Article I'm going to show the reasons of his marriages that will clear our Beloved Holy Prophet (pbuh) off these blasphemous charges. May Allah guide the opponents of Islam aright,May Allah make this Article useful for every reader,Aameen!]

Muhammad_calligThe several marriages that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) contracted have been much misunderstood and subjected to derogatory remarks beyond all limits of justice and decency.

Peoples blame that Prophet muhammad(pbuh) started this pologamy, but they are surely not knowing the facts or just lieing about him.

The institution of polygamy existed before the advent of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and a majority of Biblical prophets were polygamous , our critics single him out “heaping abuses, calumny and derogatory epithets, upon him.” 1

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) contracted a number of marriages after the age of fifty-three. The accusation of being licentious is nothing but a product of their own fertile imagination.

Dr. Besant refutes this assertion:But do you mean to tell me that the man who in the full flush of youthful vigour, a young man of four and twenty (24), married a woman much his senior, and remained faithful to her for six and twenty years (26), at fifty years of age when the passions are dying married for lust and sexual passion? Not thus are men’s lives to be judged. And you look at the women whom he married, you will find that by every one of them an alliance was made for his people, or something was gained for his followers, or the woman was in sore need of protection.2

The famous author of the book called “Mohammad and Mohammedanism”, Bosworth Smith explains:

It should be remembered, however, that most of Mohammad’s marriages may be explained at least, as much by his pity for the forlorn condition of the persons concerned as by other motives. They were almost all of them with widow who were not remarkable either for their beauty or their wealth, but quite the reverse. ” 3

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) contracted marriages either for the protection of the females whose husbands had died for the cause of Islam or for cementing the bonds of love with those who could by their position and influence be of service to Islam or for the benefit of humanity at large.

“In every single case it was a personal sacrifice on the part of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to have contracted the marriage, or circumstances obliged him to do so whilst there was as yet no law limiting the number of wives.” 4

The ladies who married the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did so of their own volition. None of them was forced into marriage. The youthful days of the Prophet prior to the beginning of revelation,

“were free from every blemish ; neither his worst enemies during his life nor the mud-slinging critics of the later times have ever been able to find the slightest fault with this critical period of his life. His veracity, chastity, innocence and pureness of heart were proverbial for he never indulged in anything unbecoming of a true should youth like him.” 5

From twenty-five years up to the age of fifty he remained with a wife older than him. During this period of his age he remained devoted to his wife and even after her death he remembered her with love and compassion.” 6

It is narrated on the authority of Jabir ibn Abdullah that Abu Jahl and some of the chiefs of the Quraish approached the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said:

“If you are anxious for leadership, we are prepared to declare you our leader, if you need riches we would collect for you an enormous amount of wealth that will suffice not only for you but even for your descendants; if you are impelled by sexual urge, you may chose ten beautiful damsels out of the whole tribe of Quraish.

The Holy Prophet kept silent and did not utter a word. When their talks concluded, the Holy Prophet recited the following verse of the Qur’an :

“Beneficent God! A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful : A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Qur’an for a people who know – good news and a warning. But most of them turn away, so they hearken not” (41 : 1.4).

The Holy Prophet concluded his reply on the verse :

“Then if they turn away, then say: I warn you of a scourge like the scourge of ‘Ad and Thamud, (41 : 13).” 7

This solitary event is enough to refute the charge of licentiousness. The worldly pleasures had no significance for him.

“His was a life of perfect sublimity and single-minded devotion to Allah, absolutely free from the taints of base desires.” 8

A Western biographer of the Holy Prophet pin-points the common weakness of the occidentals who try to bring in a verdict on the marriages of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him):

Muhammad’s married life must not be looked at from an occidental point of view or from that set by Christian conventions. These men and women were not occidentals and they were not Christians. They were living at a period and in a country where the only known ethical standards were theirs. Even so, there is no reason why the codes of America and Europe should be considered superior to those of the Arabs. The people of the West have many things to give to the people of the East. They have much to glean, too, and until they can prove that their way of living is on a higher moral standard than any body else’s, they should reserve judgements on other creeds and castes and countries.” 9

The Holy Prophet lived a simple and modest life . Being the Head of State, the Chief Justice, the Commander-in-Chief, the instructor etc., he was the most busiest man of his time, still he spent considerable part of his nights in prayers and meditation .10

His furniture was simple (i.e. mats, jugs, blankets etc.). His life was so simple that his wives did not have worldly comforts. Could this be a life of a lustful and passionate man? At the advent of Islam in Arabia the practice of polygyny was common and deeply rooted in the social life.” 11

He contracted various marriages in accordance with the custom of the country.

The limitation of the number of wives was fixed at the end of the eighth year of Hijrah and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) had married all his wives before that period. He was commanded by Allah to keep those whom he had already married but was forbidden to marry any more.12

The Quranic verse, “It is not allowed to take wives after this, (33 : 52) implies that the Holy Prophet, like all his other acts contracted those marriages perfectly in accordance with the will of the Lord. There was a divine purpose behind them and when it was achieved a restriction was placed upon him.” 13

The above facts clearly belie the wrong notions that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) contracted these marriages in response to physical needs or biological pressures.

Those who doubt moral integrity or spiritual excellence of our Prophet, (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) should answer questions such as:

“Why did he start his first marriage at the age of 25 years after having had no association with any female?

Why did he choose a twice-widowed older lady who was 15 years senior to him? Why did he remain with her until her death when he was over fifty?

Why did he accept all those helpless widows and divorcees who possessed no particular appealing qualities?

Why did he lead such an austere and hard life, when he could have had an easy and comfortable course?

Why did he con-contract most of his marriages in the busiest five years of his life, when his mission and career were at stake?

How could he manage to be what he was, if the harem life or passions overtook him? 14

REASONS FOR THE MARRIAGES:

The factors that prompted the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to contract several marriages are being briefly discussed below:

1. An Ideal Model:

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) being the last and the Final Prophet 15 and “Mercy for the nations” 16 was required to present to humanity an ideal and perfect model for all stages of human experience and moral test and for that very reason the Holy Quran calls him an “excellent exemplar.” 17

Mankind learnt from him the best ways. As a husband he was kind,

“He lived with one wife and with more than one, with the old and the young, with the widow and the divorcee, with the pleasant and the temperamental, with the renowned and the humble; but in all cases he was the pattern of kindness and consolation.” 18

To be an ideal model he had to undergo the trials and complexities of human behaviour, which were hard and by no means pleasurable. He gave to the world an ideal example of

(i) a celibate life up to the age of twenty-five,

(ii) a monogamous life with an old widow and

(iii) finally a polygamous life after the age of fifty.

In each and every aspect, his life was perfect. He indeed is a model for humanity – an excellent exemplar. Such an example could not have been possible without contracting all these marriages.

2. Education of the Ummah:

With the migration of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) and the Muslims to Medina , the Islamic society was established. The Muslims were required to conform their social and personal behaviour to the teachings of Islam. The Holy Prophet himself meticulously observed the Quranic commands and regulations and solved difficult problems concerning Muslims’ social and political life. The Holy Prophet encouraged Muslims to convey the knowledge they had gained to other Muslims. He paid special attention towards female education. For this purpose the Holy Prophet required fully trained ladies. The ideal way to solve this problem was to personally train some ladies. Who could be more trained and witness to the private life of the Holy Prophet than his wives. “It was not an ordinary work but an important task of vast magnitude which was admirably accomplished by these pious ladies.” 19

3. Preservation of the Holy Prophet’s Private Life:

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was undoubtedly, the greatest teacher of mankind. He lived an exemplary life, which was a living commentary on the Holy Quran.

“Nor does he speak out of desire. It is naught but revelation that is revealed.” 20

By marrying with women of varied temperaments he was able to get his private life and actions preserved in a better way in order to set a complete and perfect example to the mankind. It was possible for men to forget many things of his personal life on account of their constant conflict with the outside world but women (house-wives) cannot forget them.

It was necessary, therefore, to marry with a number of women of different places and clans having varied tastes, habits and temperaments. Besides, a number of laws and rules of the Shariah concerning women could be promulgated only through wives.” 21

This, perhaps, is one of the most important reasons for the Holy Prophet’s marriages. The wives of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) were required to serve as models of virtue to the Muslims and to teach them all that was “recited in the house, of the messages of Allah and the wisdom.” 22

Thus they were required to remember and convey to the Muslims whatever the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) taught them at home.

4. Elimination of Racial and Tribal Distinctions:

By contracting some of the marriages the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) removed the distinctions between different clans and tribes. He eliminated racial and national distinctions and prejudices and upheld piety as criterion of integrity and superiority.

He married some of the humblest and poorest women, a coptic girl from Egypt and a Jewess. Thus he removed the distinction of race and creed and gave a practical demonstration of the fact that after accepting Islam all are equal in the sight of Allah and the Shariah revealed by Him.

5. Status of a Divorced Woman:

Divorced women were looked upon as inferior in status and were not allowed to remarry in pre-Islamic era. By marrying a divorced lady the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught that such a marriage is not only lawful but desirable to grant a divorced woman an honourable status in the society.

6. Marriage with the Divorced Wife of an Adopted Son:

Some of the Prophet’s marriages were for legislative reasons, in order to abolish certain prevailing evil customs and practices. Before Islam an adopted son was considered as a real son and was entitled to all rights and privileges similar to a real son. Islam abrogated this practice. The Holy Prophet demonstrated his disapproval by marrying Hazrat Zainab, who was previously married to Hazrat Zaid, a freed slave, and who was considered his adopted son. Thus he established correct status of an adopted child.

7. Protection of Widows and their Children:

The Holy Prophet also married widowed women. This helped in solving the problem of providing care and protection to widows and their children in peace as well as in war when due to death of large number of male members, women were left with no one to support them.

8. Status of Freed Prisoners of War:

Before the advent of our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) the prisoners of war were taken as slaves. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) set an example by freeing them on ransom and on several occasions without charging any thing. They were encouraged and assisted to settle down through legal marriages, or earning money by working or even educating people. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) not only paid ransom for some and freed them but also married two of the captive women.

9. Political Reasons:

Some of the marriages were political in character. He was concerned for the future of Islam. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was ever anxious to bind his followers belonging to different clans and tribes in mutual love and affection. That was, doubtlessly, the object in marrying Juwairiyah (may Allah be pleased with her), daughter of Haris, the Chief of Bani al-Mustaliq. The whole clan of that tribe and their allies were thus won over to Islam. It was through marriage with Safiyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the enmity of a section of Jewish Community was neutralised. Similarly by marrying Mariya the Copt, (may Allah be pleased with her) the Holy Prophet developed blood relations with a ruler of great magnitude.

An Ideal Husband:

The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, treated his wives with even kindness and affection. He gave to the mankind best possible example in respect of dealing with wives of different age groups having different temperaments and social status.

It is reported from Hazrat Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) the wife of the Holy Prophet that her husband had remarked many a time that

“the best of you is he who is good to his wife”.

And according to a report from Abdullah ibn Umar, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, declared :

“The whole world is a thing to be made use of and the best thing in the world is a virtuous wife.” 23

What Husband says upon the First Time to Have Sexual Intercourse with His Wife?

Prophetic Hadiths:

“If whenever any one of you makes sexual approach to his or her mater you say “O Allah, keep Satan away from us, and keep him away from any offspring you may bless us with, then the Satan will never harm any offspring you are destined to produce”. (Reported By Al-Bukhari)

How To Become a Muslim

Praise be to Allaah.

All praise be to Allah, the lord of the universe. May peace and blessings of Allah be upon Mohammad, His last messenger.

The purpose of this hand-out is to correct a false idea spread among those willing to adopt Islam as their faith. Some people have a wrong notion that entering into th Islamic fold requires an announcement from the concerned person in the presence of high ranking scholars or shaikhs or reporting this act to courts of justice or other authorities. It is also thought that the act accepting Islam, should, as a condition, have a certificate issued by the authorities, as evidence to that effect.

We wish to clarify that whole matter is very easy and that none of these conditions or obligations are required. For Allah, Almighty, is above all comprehension and knows well the secrets of all hearts. Nevertheless, those who are going to adopt Islam as their religion are advised to register themselves as Muslims with the concerned governmental agency, as this procedure may facilitate for them many matters including the possibility of performing Hajj (Pilgrimage) and Umrah.

If anyone has a real desire to be a muslim and has full conviction and strong belief that Islam is the true religion ordained by Allah for all human-being, then, one should pronounce the “shahada”, the testimony of faith, without further delay. The Holy Qur’an is explicit on this regard as Allah states :

“The Religion in the sight of Allah is Islam” (Qur’an 3:19)

in another verse of the Holy Qur’an, Allah states :

“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (Submission to Allah), Never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (their selves in the hell fire).” (Qur’an 3:85)

In addition, Islam is the only religion prevailing over all other religions. Allah states in the Holy Qur’an :

“To thee We sent the Scripture in the truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety :…. (Qur’an 5:48)

Mohammad, the Prophet of Allah (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him), said :

“The superstructure of Islam is raised on five (pillars) : testifying that there is no God (none truly to be worshipped) but Allah, and that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah, performing the prayer, paying the Zakah (poor-due), fasting the month of Ramadan, and performing Hajj.”

The Shahada can be declared as follows :

“ASH-HADU ANLA ELAHA ILLA-ALLAH WA ASH-HADU ANNA MOHAMMADAN RASUL-ALLAH”.

The English translation is :

“I bear witness that there is no deity (none truly to be worshipped) but, Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah.”

However, it would not be sufficient for anyone to only utter this testimony oraly either in private or in public; but rather, he should believe in it by heart with a firm conviction and unshakeable faith. If one is truly sincere and complies with the teachings of Islam in all his life, he will find himself a new born person.

This will move him to strive more and more to improve his character and draw nearer to perfection. The light of the living faith will fill his heart until he becomes the embodiment of that faith.

What would be next after declaring oneself a Muslim ? one should then know the real concept underlying this testimony which means the oneness of Allah and meet its requiremants. One must behave accordingly, applying this true faith to every thing one speaks or does.

What do the words of the “Shahada” signify?

The significant point which every Muslim must know very well is the truth that there is no God (deity) to be worshipped other than Allah. He-glory be to Him – is the only true God, Who alone deserves to be worshipped, since He is the Giver of life and Sustainer and Nourisher of mankind and all creation with His unlimited bounties. Man must worship Allah, Who alone is worthy of worship.

The second part of the Shahada “i.e., Wa Ash-hadu anna Mohammadan abduhu wa rasuluh” means that Prophet Mohammad (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is the servant and chosen messenger of Allah.

No one must have two opinions about this matter. In fact the Muslim has to obey the commands of the Prophet (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him), to believe him in what he has said, to practise his teachings, to avoid what ha has forbidden, and to worship Allah alone according to the message revealed to him, for all the teachings of the Prophet were in fact revelation and inspirations conveyed to him by Allah.

What is the meaning of worship?

It simply means rendering sincere service, showing reverence for Allah. In a deeper shade of meaning, it implies total submission and complete obedience to Allah’s commandments both in utterances and actions of man whether explicit or implicit.

Worship fall into two categories :

  • Visible (manifest or outward).
  • Invisible (concealed or inward).

Visible worship includes acts such as uttering the two parts of the “Shahada”, performing prayers, giving Zakah (the poor-due), recitation of the Holy Qur’an, supplication, adoring Allah by praising Him, purifying our bodies before prayers, etc.

This type of worship is associated with movement of the parts of the human body.

Invisible worship is to believe in Allah, in the Day of Judgement (in the Hereafter), in the Angels, in the Books of Allah, in the Prophets of Allah, in the Divine Decree of destiny (that good and bad are determined by Allah alone).

This type worship does not involve movement of parts of the body but it surely has bearing on one’s heart which subsequently affects one’s  way of life.

It should be borne in mind that any worship not dedicated to Allah alone will be rejected as one form of polytheism and this causes apostasy from the Islamic fold.

The next step for a newly revert to Islam is the purify himself by taking a cmplete bath. He should then resolve to comply with the principles and rules of Islam in their entirety. He should disown all forms of polytheism and false beliefs. He should reject evil and be rigtheous. Such rejection of evil and being righteous is one of the requisites of the motto of Islam – that is, Laa ilaha illallah.

Allah states in the Holy qur’an :

“…whoever rejects evil and believes in the Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy Hand-hold, that never breaks…” (Qur’an 2:256).

We have to consider that when declare from our heart that “ there is no god (deity) worthy to be worshipped but Allah”, it implies on our part love, devotion,  faith and obedience to the rules of Islamic legislations which are legally binding on all Muslims. It is a requiremant of  “there is no god worthy to be  worshipped but Allah” to love for the sake of Allah and to reject for the sake of Allah.

This is the firmest anchor of belief which materialise the meaning of “AL WALA” and “AL BARA”. It means that a Muslim should love and be loyal to his Muslim brothers. He should, as a practise, dissociate himself completely from the unbelievers and refuse to be influenced by them, both in wordly and religious matters.

We conclude with a humble prayer to Allah that may He cleanse the hearts and souls of those who are genuine seekers of truth and may He bless the community of believers.

Aameen.

What Quran says about Quran?

Who Sent Quran?

And this Quran is not such as could be forged by those besides Allah, but it is a verification of that which is before it and a clear explanation of the book, there is no doubt in it, from the Lord of the worlds.”

[10. Surah Yunis: Ayah 37]

“Do they not then meditate on the Quran? And if it were from any other than Allah, they would have found in it many a discrepancy.”

[4. Surah Nisaa: Ayah 82]

On Whom Quran is Descended?

“Surely We Ourselves have revealed the Quran to you revealing (it) in portions.”

[76. Surah Dahr : Ayah 23]

“And thus have We revealed to you an Arabic Quran, that you may warn the mother city and those around it, and that you may give warning of the day of gathering together wherein is no doubt; a party shall be in the garden and (another) party in the burning fire.”

[42. Surah Ash-Shura : Ayah 7]

“Say: What thing is the weightiest in testimony? Say: Allah is witness between you and me; and this Quran has been revealed to me that with it I may warn you and whomsoever it reaches. Do you really bear witness that there are other gods with Allah? Say: I do not bear witness. Say: He is only one God, and surely I am clear of that which you set up (with Him).”

[6. Surah Al-An'am : Ayah 19]

For Whom Quran is Descended?

“A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know.”

[41. Surah Fussilat : Ayah 3]

“Therefore remind him by means of the Quran who fears My threat.”

[50. Surah Qaaf : Ayah 45]

When Quran is Descended?

“The month of Ramazan is that in which the Quran was revealed, a guidance to men and clear proofs of the guidance and the distinction; therefore whoever of you is present in the month, he shall fast therein, and whoever is sick or upon a journey, then (he shall fast) a (like) number of other days.”

[2. Surah Al-Baqarah : Ayah 185]

Why Quran is Descended?

“We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an, in order that ye may learn wisdom.”

[12. Surah Yusuf : Ayah 2]

“We have not revealed the Quran to you that you may be unsuccessful. Nay, it is a reminder to him who fears.”

[20. Surah Ta-ha : Ayah 2-3]

“And it is a Quran which We have revealed in portions so that you may read it to the people by slow degrees, and We have revealed it, revealing in portions.”

“Surely this Quran guides to that which is most upright and gives good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a great reward.”

Crying in Front of Allah-It’s not impossible

When was the last time you cried? Not a few drops of salty water from your eyes, or the odd tear that slipped down your face while watching a tragic event.

I’m talking about warm tears of the heart. Tears that sting your face because they’ve been there so long, their bitter saltiness hurts your skin.

When was the last time you cried like a baby?

Aisha, may Allah be pleased with our mother, relates that: In the last ten of Ramadan, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to tighten his waist belt, pray all night, and wake up his family for the night prayers (Bukhari and Muslim).

Almost two thirds of Ramadan is gone. We powerless people will soon be looking for the Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr), which we are advised to seek in these last ten nights of Ramadan.

Aisha related that the Prophet said: Look for Laylatul Qadr on an odd-numbered night during the last ten nights of Ramadan (Bukhari).

We can’t afford not to be crying in front of Allah, the Merciful, All-Aware.

Tears flow when we remember how much Allah has blessed us with and how much we disobey Him. We can never repay Allah for everything we have, yet we still blatantly commit sins both big and small: whether it’s backbiting, hurting other human beings, not standing up for the truth, treating our family badly, lying, doing good deeds to show off, cheating, etc.

Allah opens ways out of problems for us, easing our burdens. Yet, we still disobey Him and take His Mercy for granted.

Abdullah ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said he would rather shed two tears from the fear of Allah than give a thousand dinars in charity.

And the most telling example of a man who few would think would cry because of Allah is Umar, may Allah be pleased with him. He was known for being strong, fearless, and uncompromising when it came to matters of faith. Yet, Abdullah ibn Isa said that Umar had two black streaks on his face because of constant weeping.

He feared Allah so much that he once said, “If someone announced from the heavens that everybody will enter Paradise except one person, I would fear that that person would be me.”

Umar was one of the strongest believers. Yet he cried and feared Allah. And Abu Bakr, he was simply known for his crying. These people loved to serve human beings in the day and spent time begging God to save humanity at night. May Allah be pleased with them.

Let’s be more contemplative and pray for an awareness of and forgiveness for our sins, as well as softness in our hearts. If Umar the brave and pious did it, we have even more need and urgency to do it.

Human beings are in turmoil. Connecting with God with our hearts and begging for His Mercy for His Creation will bring us Closer to Him and human beings.

Beautiful Lessons From Hadith

Beautiful Lessons from Hadith !The Best Among You.

The Prophet (SAW) said:

Shall I tell you who Are the best among you? The best of you are those who when seen are a means of Allah being brought to mind.

(Tirmidhi)

Spend Righteously And Teach Wisdom.

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

There are two kinds of people worth envying: someone whom Allah has made rich and who spends his money righteously, and someone whom Allah has given wisdom and who acts according to it and teaches it to others.

(Al-Bukhari)

Thank People.

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

He who does not thank people does not thank Allah.

(Tirmidhi)

Acts Of Kindness.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Through (a person’s charitable giving), God takes away arrogance and vanity.”

(Fiqh-us-Sunnah)

The Prophet (SAW) also said,

“Allah is Kind and He loves kindness. Kindness is not to be found in anything but that it adds to its beauty.”

(Sahih Muslim)

Injustice.

The Prophet (SAW) said,

“If a man suffers injustice and endures it patiently, Allah will grant him strength.”

(Fiqh-us-Sunnah)

Remember Allah.

The Prophet (SAW) said,

“When any group of people remembers Allah, angels surround them and mercy covers them, tranquility descends upon them, and Allah mentions them to those who are with Him.”

(Fiqh-us-Sunnah)

“Without doubt, it is the remembrance of Allah that brings tranquility to the heart.”

(Al-Quraan 13:28)

Visit The Sick.

The Prophet (SAW) said,

“Heaven calls out to anyone who visits a sick person: ‘You are good and your path is good. May you enter your residence in Paradise.”

(Fiqh-us-Sunnah)

The Golden Rule.

The Prophet (SAW) said,

“Do you know who will go first on the Day of Resurrection to the shade of Allah? Those who when given what is right accept it, when asked for something give freely and who judge in favour of others as they do for themselves.”

(Tirmidhi)

Allah Loves You.

A man once came to the Prophet (SAW) with a sheet of cloth and something in his hand. The man said, “I saw a group of trees and heard the sound of young birds. I took them and put them in my garment. Their mother then came and began to hover around my head. I showed (the chicks) to her and she fell on them. I wrapped them (all) with my garment. They are now with me.” The Prophet (SAW) said to his companions, “Are you surprised at the affection of the mother for her young? … Allah is more affectionate to His servants than a mother to her young ones. Take (the chicks) back and put them where you found them.”

(Abu Dawud)

A Friendly Word.

The Prophet (SAW) told his companions:

“Save yourselves from (Hell) even if with half of a date (given in charity), and if that is not available then (save yourselves) by saying a friendly word.”

(Al-Bukhari)

A Place In Paradise.

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

Whoever builds a Masjid, seeking Allah’s pleasure; Allah will build for him a similar place in Paradise.

(Al-Bukhari)

Avoid Anger.

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that a man said to the Prophet (SAW) “Advise me!” The Prophet (SAW) said:

“Do not become angry and furious.” The man asked (the same) again and again, and the Prophet (SAW) said in each case: “Do not become angry and furious.”

(Al-Bukhari)
